Hi, I have a super black 96 se. I'v recently been thinking about replacing my front grill. A couple of days ago I recieved a trenz billet grill from god father customs. Thier website says the grill is for 95-99 maximas, but when i got it, it didn't fit. So I call trenz and they say god fathers customs website is wrong and that they only make grills for 97-99. So now i'm stuck with my stock grill. I was wondering if any one knows of any other grills available for a 96. I'm also wondering if anyone has any advice on how to maybe construct a new grill out of mesh or something. I've seen the smx grill and i dont like it. Thanks for the help

hmm, something is weird about that. I just ordered the billet grill from Trenz from Drummer. I know another guy on the BBS that has a 96 and has the same grill as well. You can get a 97 or 98 grill and slightly modify it. I think everyone says that you just have to take a few millimeters off of the bottom for it to fit. Also there is some mesh stuff from Home Depot that you can buy and paint (it's really mesh that goes over your gutters on your house, but it's cheap). Metallic97GXE (william) used air conditioner mesh or something like that to make his.

DavidL7 did it. He has a 96 just as I do. He told me this, "Trenz makes grills for 95-99's you just have to find the right part number. I've heard alot of people having fitment problems with them but I didn't. What happened was the grill comes flat so the body shop bent it slightly to conform with the contours of the front and also put spacers in to align it with the hood. Bending it is easier said than done you have to be careful not to break the welds like one person did. One other person got it and said he modified it to fit but there was a HUGE gap on the bottom part."

Thanks for the info on that David...

So I guess it's all in how you put the grill on. When I get mine I'll try to take some pics and post them.

I talked to trenz earlier today about them making a billet grill that fits the 95-96 max without any modifications. I told them that I would be willing to send them my stock 96 grill so they could take measurements. they said they would get back to me tommorrow
