Figured out how to eliminate clunking sound from PRCAI
Just bought the CAI from Russ and installed it a couple of days ago. I didn't care for the "clunk!" everytime I'd hit the gas a little due to the tube moving and hitting either the edge of the hole in the fender well or who knows whereever else. I also didn't really care for the sucking sound too much.
The fix to this was so simple I don't know why I didn't think of it at first! I just left the upper portion of the stock intake in place exactly like it is, including the MAF, and simply took out the stock airbox. The lower PRCAI tube bolts up perfectly to the MAF and I have the benefit of retaining the accordion rubber section attached to the throttle to absorb any engine movement AND the stock resnator to take care of most of the sound (this is exactly like the Stillen and JWT intakes bolt up)! I have to admit there is a very, very slight performance penalty compared to using the upper PRCAI tube - but very slight. I may play with modifying (cutting) the upper tube to incorporate the accordion section over the weekend.

damn, i can't find the post but someone posted a pic of the black rubber pieces that connect the CAI with a flex section built in (actually it was blue)
This will solve your problem and let you keep the upper CAI pipe!
Can anyone find this post??
For the 5thgen CAI people. Any easy way to eliminate any noise that occurs when you shift gears or take off. Remove the back bolt holding the fuse box in place. I had a rubbing noise everytime I shifted gears and took off from the line. The reason this noise was occuring was because the tube was trying to shift with the engine and was rubbing against the plastic of the fuse box and making the lovely scratching sound. Once I removed the bolt the fuse box moved up slighty, but not too much, however it was enough to clear the tube and eliminate the sounds. Hopefully this will help some of you!
