I will NEVER order an item at a local store EVER AGAIN!

Today, I got one of my windows tinted because it was broken into early last year and I check out this store I used to go to before i knew about shopping on the net, I ask him how much are your diamond cut bumpers for the maxima 4th generation, and he says "hmm...about 135 bucks for a pair", and I'm like what the f**k!!! I done paid 60 for mine, and he talking about a CAI is like 155 and this hot muffler is like 135...way over priced...man, internet for me from now on...shameful

What you are describing here is not very surprising. Most "performance-auto-shops" make money this way. Kids with civic Si's that their parents bought them for their birthdays go watch F&F, and then flock to the performance shops for all their "needs". How do you think those shops stay in business? They have to make a profit, if they sold you everything at cost they wouldnt even survive a week. Same thing goes for the internet moguls, do you REALLY think it costs $60 to make one pair of plastic lights for a car? There is at most 5 dollars of recycled plastic in there. They have to pay for equipment...labor...etc.

Anyway, I have experienced this before, I'm sorry to say. When I first found out about clear corner for the maxima (the old regular ones) a long long time ago, I wanted them. Didn't know you could buy them online, so I went to my local "Hi there! What can we getchya?" "import" performance shop and bought them for $75. When I could have bought them for $35 shipped online.

Live and learn.

I dont think the CAI price is that overblown. Who is it that they sell? Might be right around the same and not have to pay shipping.

Yeah local performance shops are always rip-offs, I've already bought some over-priced stuff from mine just for the convenience. But when I was getting my AGX struts they told me 600 something and 700 something INSTALLED. So I was like yea you wish peace out, and bought 'em from custommaxima for $380.00. So you can always go look at stuff there, but then make sure you order it online.

It's not a performance shop, but I almost bought a generic intake cone from Schucks for fourty dollars 'cause I didn't know any better. Fortunately I had left my check card at home, and I looked eBay and got the same thing for ten bucks plus six for shipping. It's nice to be able to go into a place and deal with a real person and all, but not if it's gonna cost twice as much!
