OK so tonight on open road (highway).. i decide to gun it.. well i get up to 120 easily... but then it shifted into fourth.. and it wouldnt go past 120 or 4K RPM'S.. i was ****ed..


i thought only GXE's had a limiter...

s something wrong with my Car? or does it take awhile to get a top speed after u hit 120??

\when the car shifted into 4th it went from redline to 4krpm.. then just stood there.. i ran outta room..so i dunno...\\\

i'm really worried.. help please?

edit-- oh yea this has happened befor ebut in 3rd gear.. it wouldnt go past 80 mph and the RPM's would go higher than 4k.... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY CAR!!!???

 

I've hit 135.

 

As far I know, all GLEs and SEs don't have the speed limiter.

 

You don't have a speed limiter, but it does take a while to reach top speed.

 

I had the same thing happend last weekend except I hit 122-123. Someone posted and said to keep O/D off, meaning keep it in 3rd, until almost 130, you engine will redline then take off O/D and it will shift to 4th. Havn't tried yet but I think mzmtg's sig pic shows when to turn O/D back on. Look at the post I made earlier this week:

I have the same thing happen, but at 110. The next time I went out I tried it agian and nothing happened it 135 before I let of. I dunno but maybe the CPU is getting confuesd. It still happens every once and a while. But I haven't tried it with switch OD off.

 

Keep O/D off until the exact moment in my sig pic...

...that's redline in 3rd gear.

 

4th gear in the auto doesnt pull to hard

It shouldnt, I hit 132 in my 97SEAuto and she wanted more on the 190 in Carollton,Tx

 

I have a 97 GXE auto I've gone 135ish until I ran outta room, and there was still plenty to go..

Someone know why?

 

the real question is why wont my car go above 4K RPM's... it was like it was stuck there.. it happened in 3rd gear and in 4th gear..t hats what puzzuled me..

 

Do you have the Security and Convenience package?

I have the S&C package and got my car up to 130 before I ran out of room.

 

hmm iono if i have that package...... I have oem security system...... what else is in package?
