My friend did a similar mod on his Impala SS, I don't know if it would be of any help on our cars though. Supposedly it gives the Impala guys 2-3rwhp for nothing.

Emailed the seller - I'll let you know what I hear

copy of email I sent to seller:

Do you have a picture of the throttle-body bypass kit you could email me? Maybe a pic of it installed as well? Any dyno sheets to back up the #'s? Sorry for all the questions. I'm seriously interested.

I learned of your auction on www.maxima.org, where I am a member. We're a pretty performance-oriented membership & like specs. & stats b-4 dropping cash. If you can back it up, I'm sure you'll get lots of orders from there.

Check out the thread:

Thanks!

Don't do this!

Guys, this is not a good idea. The coolant line that runs into the throttle body is used to cool the EGR gasses and to help control idle. My friend did this to his 97 max and his throttle plate started sticking and his idle was irregular. The little space on the TB that recieves coolant doesn't have a large enough suface area to heat up the incoming air anyway. If the EGR passage doesn't recieve proper cooling the engine may detonate and actually loose power. And I think that 6hp gain is BS. Just my .02.
BTW we've discussed this before http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ghlight=bypass

This is the most ridiculous and silly mod. Number one, it costs literally 50 cents to do, with just a piece of hose, the existing clamps (or even new clamps) and optionally rubber plug cappers. Number two, just like the previous post mentioned, it will cause your idle to stick open. Ontop of that the gains are near next to zero, if there are any gains whatsoever. Don't worry about this mod at all, its ridiculous with someone trying to make a fast buck on ebay.

This sounds right! (I don't know about detonating part myself). 6HP? I'll believe it when I see it!

Thanks.

Thanks guys for setting me straight. Kinda figured it was another "Tornado"-ish type thing. . .

Note to self: "ish" is in "fish," as in "fishy."

Cheers,
-K-

PS: FWIW - I haven't heard squat from the seller regarding my email inquiry. Maybe he's more comfortable trolling for $$$$$ on EBay than "backing it up." (?)

Thought about using the PERMACOOL oil cooler thermostat control for about $40. It should work and still pass 10% of the coolant to the TB when hot... dunno if it'd be worth it.

THIS MOD IS VERY SIMPLE & VERY CHEAP TO DO.
ALL YOU ARE DOING IS PULLING OFF THE COOLANT FEED & RETURN LINE TO THE THROTTLE & CONNECTING THEM TOGETHER.
IT'S A SCAM TO TRY TO SELL A KIT, WHEN YOU CAN GOTO YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE OR EVEN HOME DEPOT TO GET THE HARDWARE TO PERFORM THIS SO CALLED "MOD"

WARNING FOR THOSE IN COLDER CLIMATES, YOUR THROTTLE PLATE MAY STICK WHEN IT'S COLD OUTSIDE.
