I have an 87 Maxima without keyless entry on the
door, and with the security light thing on the
dash.

The window has a sticker that saids "Protected
by Tektor".

Does the factory alarm system have a remote
control of any type ?

Has anybody heard of a Tektor system ?

I'm not sure what I have in there, but the car
horn blows and headlights flash.

Any info would be appreciated

Yes, all of the second generation Maximas come with a factory alarm system as standard equipment. There isn't a remote to disable it though. Whenever you lock the doors, the security light comes on and should stay on for about 30 seconds. Then the system will be armed. By using the key to unlock the doors, you turn the system off.

By the way, the Tektor thing that you are talking about is a teflon body spray that the previous owner put on the car to protect it from rust. It's like the stuff that Ziebart does to cars to rustproof them.
