2k2 speaker dimensions?

Hey people. Best Buy told me the 2002 Max w/Bose has 6.5in speakers all around. Other internet sources say it has 6.5 front & 5.25 rear. Has anyone actually changed the speakers in their 2k2? If so, what are the actual dimensions, and is it easier to mount 6.5 up front, or oversize 6.75?...

Thanks much,
G

I just installed 6 1/2's in the front and rear doors . Just drill new holes into the doors.

Emax, what's the approximate mounting depth? Can I get away with 2.75in depth? Do you know if the Bose system runs the speakers at a 4ohm or 2ohm load? Can I just throw 4-ohmers in there 7 make em work?

Thanks again,
G

I am currently using 2.75 inch depth speakers and I am a little short on clearance actually(MB Q Discuss components). When I lower my window the window hits the speaker magnet . Some time over the next few days(probably tomarrow) I am going to install the black circular mounts which will raise the speakrs about 1/2 an inch, this should definatly fix the problem. If you want I can let you know the outcome.

The Bose stereo runs at I believe 1 OHM so you are going to need speakers that are stable at 1 OHM.

That would be great! Thanks gain 4 the info! If it doesn't work out u I may have to look at 2.5in speakers instead.

Yep. 6.5" all around. I have Infinity Ref (605cs up front, 652i's in the back) but i also did have the mounting brackets. No hitting at all.

Be sure to add some Raammat or that bread stuff while you're at it.

X-cellent! You're right, I'm going to use that CASCADE VBLOK QUIET KOTE spray to insulate the door panels & rear deck. I've read some good reviews about it. Probably going to spray the top & bottom of the rear deck, also. I hear you need to spend at least a couple hours masking everything, though. But once it's over the sound 'll be a-thumpin!
