Where are the spark plugs on the 99?

I just got a 99 GXE, and was looking under the bonnet and couldn't find the plugs or wires? Im assuming that they are under the valve cover plates? Beats me, Im new to the maxima, used to have a simple VW Gti. I love the Maxima though. Any info would be totally appreciated. Ohh yeah the car has about 42K on it, is it due for new plugs yet? The gas milage is kinda ****e, so I thought I would start by changing the plugs and the air filter. Peace

FYI

You won't find any spark plug wires since each plug has it's own coil.
