vb moded auto vs. manual?

Which would win: a vb moded (Valvebody recalibration) 2002 nissan maxima SE automatic or a 2002 nissan maxima SE manual? What are the approximate times as well (0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.)?

hmmm, the 2k2's auto and manuals seemed a little closer matched than the 2k/2k1s. Didn't we have an auto 1/4 mile in the mid 14s?

I don't think we have seen a 1/4 mile time for a auto with a VB yet.

my guess is the manual would still win (depending on the driver)... but by how much and what time difference?

coming from a person that went from 2001 maxima auto (222 hp) to 2002 maxima (255 hp) there's really nothing much to say..

I live Flushing ,NY, which is notorious for horrible bumpy roads and massive traffic, so I think Auto is ideal for me.

a vb mod won't give you a manual tranny, it's just a really good thing to get if you have to have an auto or just would rather drive an auto

the 6 sp. would win the 1/4, but it would be close for those races where you have to finish a big mac and a coke by the end, i know you fat people know what i'm talkin' about

This debate can go longer than time itself. Just pick which one best suits you OR which one you get a better deal on.

Then mod it. That's all that really matters is the mods. You'll win some and you will lose some.. just have fun and as the ad's say...enjoy the ride

well, i've heard claims that the vb mod can drop an auto's time by .5 in the quarter. that would put me at about 15.1 ish. that's right around a lot of stock 5spd's. and i am far from the best racer, so i know some other guys could do much better with a stock auto.

and as for the guy going from a 2k auto to a 2k2 6spd...you can't compare just the tranny's like that. there's a 30 crank horsepower difference just to start with. a 2k2 auto feels a lot faster than a 2k auto - because it is. going from a 2k auto with vb to a 2k 5spd would be a good comparison.

the people claiming this tend to be the people selling them, not to say it can't happen b/c i'm sure it does with the right mods, but I doubt .5 on an otherwise fairly stock max--i need to go to the track again before i have much room to talk though--don't get me wrong, it is definitly a plus for those with auto trannies

when i went to the track the day before i got the mod, eric and i made it a point to notice the lag between shifts while running down the 1/4--and notice we did, so now that it shifts faster, faster times can be assumed, but i'd rather go to the track and see first hand results

u guys r rediculous i know a 2k2 and 2k1 r not the same thing! my friend had a 2k 5 speed and i had the 2k1 auto! with numerous mods i would be lucky to win against him! i would win every 1 out of 4 races bc he would smoke his tires off on the launch! gearing alone tells u which car is faster! i would always call my car a 0-80 mph racer bc after 80 mph (2nd gear) it wouldnt go anywhere! the auto has the disadvantage of 4 LONG gears while a 5 speed has shorter gears...... a 5 speed from a roll would kick a autos a$$!! accually its 33 more crank horsepower! i have driven the 2k2 auto and I KNOW ITS FASTER when did i say it wasnt just saying anyway u look at it manuals got the autos beat! sorry guys!

will
