Hi,
I was on a long trip and wanted to top out my car.
At a long strait road I floored it. The 2k SE ran fast up to 120
and then stopped. WTF my Friggen Saturn does 132.
This car stopped at 120. I am so upset I have put all these mods
in. Cattman y-pipe, High flow cat, Cai, Don VB mod, and the friggen thing is limited to 120....
What speeds do you guys get?
What can I do to get ride of the limiter?

My top speed has been 138mph with only an intake. I dont think with my mod's my top speed will increase.

ive gone just over 130 with a 2k1 ae. only engine mods i have is a ypipe and k&n. riding on stock tires as well. y2kevse has a link to a product that will remove it completely but i dont have it off hand.

i got 132 in my 2001 AE max.....it was fast!

 

130, top of 4th, fast enought so didn't want to try 5th...maybe next time. oh, only intake.

 

i have a 2k1 gxe with automagic, took it to a little over 120 and had plenty of pull left...

 

I have 2000 se and hit 138 with mine it auto and has just Place Racing CAI so far just ordered y-pipe

 

i hit 131 limiter all stock no problem, 125 to 131 takes forever though. now with current mods hits limiter speed effortlessly......

Get an Apexi Rev/Speed Meter. It costs about $150 and it will override your speed limiter. I would suggest that you get some max performance tires before trying to max out your car (the speed limiter is basically to keep you from killing yourself on the stock tires).

My auto 2000 GLE cuts out at 130. I'm surprized that the gxe only goes to 120. I cut my car out easily whenever there is enough open road to do it. All I have is an intake and s-03 tires. I find that with my auto, I can hit 130 faster if I turn off the overdrive (this just takes you there at higher rpms). I need to get an Apexi rsm myself!

 

I went 110, and almost ****ed my pants because of a blind turn ahead of me.....my question is where do you guys find roads to go 130 and up? i go 100 fairly often on 40 roads, but for some reason, that extra 20 mph or so seems so much scarier. time for some new struts and RSB....

 

Im in AZ and we have roads here with posted speed limits of 80 so do 130 on them isn't that hard. Any highway will do for me you just gotta stick and move

 

At 137mph my Max hits limiter.

My 2001 GXE hit just over 133mph. I backed at that point,but it felt like it had a lot more pull. AUTOMAGIC.

NO MODS.

 

Just find a good freeway that you know and go there at night when there is no traffic. If I didn't have a limiter, I have a feeling I could take it up to 150 around my area without any problems.

I wouldn't bother with the stuts and rsb. I would fist get maximum performance tires, then springs and shocks. When I got my tires (S-03's) I found that I can maintain a speed of 120 through turns on an open highway with ease. I would have killed myself on the old stock tires (i almost did a few times).

ive got my max up to 135 limiter didnt kik in yet but i was on factory tires and did not want to go any faster...

I did 130 in my car and didnt hit the limiter. Did not want to push my luck with cops, so I shut it down.

I hit exactly 140 3 weeks ago. None of the mods I have help raise the top speed but it helped me get there faster. I have or I had 18s on while I did this.

Yeah, mine usually shuts down around 143 as well.
However, I did manage to hit 151 (on 6% Grade) going to California once.
I was racing a Mustang and a Cafe bike, being follwed by a Kia Sofia!

Hey BigDogJonx,we have the same car with almost the same mods and I too reach 143mp, but the car can go faster we have to get rid of the speed governor with an aftermerket piggy back, someone posted something about it recently.

SHO wanted to play so we hit it on a 3 lane highway, after walked on him. I kept going and looked down and saw 155mph, kept on it for a little more and then shut it down.

It had more, but I couldn't see keeping it up.

Last week I was racing a 2k2 Tahoe and had to pass him going around 130'ish. After then, I needed to quickly slow down and get off at my exit!!! I think my 2k GXE with no engine mods could have kept going if I pushed it to the MAXimum!

 

I don't know if I made it clear.

My sig use to have my cars etc on it, now my sig doesn't show on my posts.

Anyway, my Max was a 95' 5-sp, with Intake,Exhaust,ECU,Body Kit,Rotors,Springs,Shocks/Struts,Rims and tires, ...

The ECU removed the speed limiter AND moved the rev limiter up. The stock max in 95/96 had a tested top speed of 145mph, hence when I was doing 155mph that wasn't a big deal. I did not want to kept on in traffic a speeds of 155mph+, I "believe" I could have hit ~165mph.

I have not pushed my AE Auto near that.
