dealership to repaint hood!

I went in to the dealership yesterday to meet with the general manager, showed him the hood. I basically told him that for a car that is only three weeks old, the amount of paint chips (10+) was unacceptable. He was very nice, wanted to do the right thing and make me a happy customer so he has offered to have my hood repainted. I figured I'd give the dealership a chance to do something about it before going the other route (***** about it on the internet, contact Nissan directly, etc.), maybe I got lucky? I think that going straight to the GM helped, because I initially brought it up to the service manager, she said there was nothing she could do about it and told me to take it to Nissan.

Anybody else tried this approach?

You should probably not purchase another Nissan unless you are comfortable with this approach, as it's pretty much Nissan's standard of producing inferior paint and then blaming the customer when it chips.

You got lucky, and I'm glad they are doing the right thing.

Take it to someone who services Porsche/Mercedes/BMW and have them put European paint on it.

You're right, initially they tried to weasel out of it by saying "it's because of rocks chipping the paint". I agreed with him, but showed him cars on the lot that were 5 years older that had few to no chips, and then I showed him a black 2000 Maxima that looked like he!!. This is my second Nissan, I actually vowed never to buy another one after dealing with an a-hole service manager at another dealership. It seems like they are trying to turn around their image of crappy customer service.

No, I would say YOUR dealer is trying to be better. But remember you had to go to the GM in order to get it done at this dealership anyway. The SM told you to go pound rocks....

They are actually going to send it to a Porsche dealership which has their own in-house painting, but unfortunately I think they will be using Nissan paint. I'll try asking for it though.
