changed my trans flu, 2 day funny storyto go with it

well i changed my auto trans flid today and i needed to change my filter too so i comenced to getting on with the proceedure. I first started like I 'm supposed to by letting ALL the fluid out of the pan, RIGHT. So then i started to take out the 20 or so screws around the pan most of the way out letting the pan dangle on the edge of off. i noticed some of the fluid was still coming out so I decided to go on ahead and release the fluid so i tilted the pan a little bit and some of the fluid came out and i figured that was it so I took the pan off from the front facing the rear so the pans highest point came down first and dumped about .5 qrt right on my head and all over my boby i was at a public garage on base and we all started laughing or ***** off even me drenched from top of my head with hot trans fluin well just let this be a lesson in case you do it on your spare time shake and move and let the pan come down as one unit upright and still in place or back to front but just be ready for the pan to slip or something. Well later guys oh yea the max is running top shape know was pulling into gears really hard for an auto but it seems to be fixxed now. it will still pull hard into gear but it was doing so in very lo rpms, now it has to be up there in the engines sweet spot 3300 or so to yanke my **** out of the hole. I used quaker state special import atf. Lable and book dont say nothing bout nissans but it says infinty so i guessed and put it on in there. well later im going to check out a couple a threads

That's a pretty funny story! Actually you should have drained teh ATF through the drain plug first, then drop the pan to clean or replace the fluid screen.

I can just imagine dropping the fluid out onto my head. That must have been hilarious.

I got the screen at kragen auto parts and i think it was 20 or so i cant remember i have been planning on doing this for about three or four weeks and when i bought it i had plenty of money and was like uh yea i need that to along with my brake pads {that still squeak by the way just like every other maxima owner without oem pads or like me the cheaper of the pads available} so i cant really remember the exact price but not to much.

I remember those public garages when I lived on bases when I was a kid.

Noone in Seattle, or anywhere in the civilian world I know of, will run one, however, because of fear of getting sued when some idiot drops a hydraulic lift on his 5 year old or something.

man I wish there was one around here....

I did the exact same thing on a Thundergird at my garage I work at. Man, that **** smells so bad expecially when it is slightly burnt. Yuck. Took two days to get it out of my hair.

If you still have a military ID, or can access military installations, i think Ft. Lewis might have one, i'm not 100% positive though
