I think two .org members have done that. Can't remember their names, but one of them is something like "1/2there1/3togo."

The hard thing about that is the spare tire well. If you take a look under the rear of your max, you will notice that the spare tire well is shifted towards the drivers side of the max, so the exaust can be routed to the passenger side. If you wanted to do the dual canister set up you would either have to cut into the spare tire well for clearance of pipes and mufflers, OR get very low profile (thin) mufflers. If you went the 2nd route i'm almost 100% positive your mufflers would be too low to the ground and scrape on every bump. Take a look under your max, and you will see what i am talking about

You mean put a muffler on each side instead of just tips showing on the back?
I think that the .org members that have done dual exhaust setup have used only one muffler and a lot of pipe to make it look like a dual.

I have a TRUE dual exhaust setup, starting at the headers. Straight piped, cept the stock cats and muffler, other wise straight piped. (no resonators )

Lost power ? Well I AM also running 15psi through my twin-turbos, so this true dual setup will benifit me in the end, just like a big block V8

My, how did you know?
Yes the story goes as this. 1/3 ther 2/3's to go (see how that equals a whole one? instead of 1/3therr 1/2 to go. sorry I had to point that out. Anyway 1/3 there aka kirk sold his mufflers to craig, craig lately has been sturting around like he is the best thing since cold beer. whoops got off track there again, Krik went to his muffler shop again and made another one for his car after he sold that one to craig, and that is the story of the dual's on the max. Oh and yes the tire hole is in the way, thats shy the tips are so close on the duals on craig's car.
