Stupid y-pipe ? w/ a twist

ok i told my older bro that i wanted to get a y-pipe for my car this summer. he said that i would hardly notice a difference in sound w/stock muffler etc. is this true? thx

Actually, I'm interested in the difference also. Is it louder at idle? Does it sound more throaty under acceleration?
