Iridium Spark Plugs?

Has any one tried these, I was just looking on e-bay and they say it will increase H.P. from 5-10. I havn't seen anyone on here with them, and was just wondering. You must have to have a high performance ignition or something.

Platinum plugs

The Bosch Platinum 4's say the same thing, and while I dunno if they increased it at all, I did notice a difference between those and the cheapies that were in them.
They're pretty expensive, $6/piece, but I like them.

I tried a set of HKS Iridium Plugs in my RX-7 ($25 per plug X 4) and all it did was cause the car to detonate.... (REALLY BAD) I don't really know WHY it would cause it... but on the 2nd WOT run with them... PING!

Anyway... just stick with NGK plugs. You can get them all day long for $1.50 and they work great. Replace them every 30k miles and you'll be fine.

I guess the plugs developed hotspots, causing pre-ignition...(?)

Also, you must be talking about the garden-variety of NGKs, which are cheap even in platinum (and available everywhere). I don't know what type the VG takes, but the special platinum NGKs for the VE are much more expensive!

Hey Bman,

I just went to my local autoparts store yesterday and the guy offered me the cheapie ones, since he had to order the more expensive ones. So what's the difference between the two NGK plugs? Is there a difference in part number? Thanks for the help.

Those wheels are the tighest! 2000's right? Where did you get them, I've been looking on e-bay and plan on buying them pretty soon. I bought the NGK's from Courtesy Nissan: $1.75 or something a piece as long as you have a VG.

Non-platinums for the VG are cheap man. I'm not SURE they were 1.50 a piece... but they were less than $2 a piece. Anyway... the regular NGK's are easy to obtain @ any Pep Boyz or NAPA. (I got mine from NAPA)

Yeah, it must have been something like that. Either way, I wasn't impressed and I wanted my good old $4 a piece NGK's back.

Also, I bought just the "V-Power" NGKs for my car. Just asked the guy at the parts counter for plugs and he gave me the choice between the V's and the normal ones (same price). I decided to give the V's a shot and they seem to work fine.

Yup, they are the 2k's. I bought them from ebay back in June and picked them up locally. Keep looking on ebay and I'm sure you'll find them soon. Personnally, I think they are the cleanest look on a 3rd gen. I will give Kaleb a call about those NGK's.
