Yep, Altimas shouldn't be made that fast, the Maxima should be. I hate seeing the damn Altimas getting that fast! uggg.g.

This may not pertain to you now but, the Altima's success is what really made Nissan a stronger company (financially speaking) than it has been i the past. Ant THAT should make Maxima owners feel like they have a bit more stability behind them. If Nissan left the Altima like it was, I doubt Nissan would've seen much gain.

I'm glad Altima's are fast too. It makes it more likely that Honda will actually build an Accord V6 with a real engine in it and not the crappy econo-tuned/marketing-massaged one that's in there right now

Better competition = better products = more consumer choice = more power to you

Maybe even Toyota will start to feel the heat and drop the VVT-i engine in the Camry V6 like they should have in the first place!

Well, I would have to say the Altimas are good to be fast, but half the Altima owners are dumbasses saying their cars are better than the Maxima now and there should be no need for a Maxima now. lol...

maxima over altima

yeah, i know there are some altima people who think the maxima shouldn't be built, when i first saw the altima's whole new design with it's new engine, i was thinking "they must be planning on beefing up the maxima a little bit more, otherwise they are going to be fighting over the same owneres", so maybe they are planning on making the maxima stock engine a 400 hp 4 door grocery getter

Well, I decidede to switch due to warranty issues. But this car is defintely a keeper. It is nice, has everything I want, and its a Honda (Acura). It will have awesome resale compared to the Maxima which dropped 10k with in 1 year.

Holy F-ing $hit, Russ. How many cars are you on now? You MUST be made of money bud Anyway, nice car you have. I hope you got the 6spd version? My dad has a TL-S and the tranny $hit out on him at 2k and then again at 30k. I guess there is a sort of recall on it all. Advantage Acura, right

If I'm not mistaken, it was somebody from this board (probably either you or PhatGuy) who came over there crapping on the new Altima saying the Maxima is still better. That's what got most of this rivalry going anyway. Before then the new Altima owners were just confused about the role of the Maxima and weren't exactly putting it down. Many of those same owners were planning to get a Maxima but found the Altima roomier and newer and a couple grand cheaper (MSRP anyway) so they went with that instead. I don't think there was any animosity towards Maximas until Ia couple choice individuals from here went over and stirred the "king of the mountain" pot.

BTW, don't bank too much on your Acura being such a keeper, Russ. My sister-in-law had plenty of problems with her CL (has a Lexus now) and my bro-in-law's Odyssey has been a POS. Plus I've heard plenty of bad things about the tranny in the TL/CL. Nice cars, but I'm not convinced that Honda/Acura is even up to snuff with Nissans.

You got the S2k?!?

If you lived with your 'rents 'till you were nearly 30, I'm sure you'd have enough $$$ to buy a car that often.
