New Best Times, but I still have more work to do!

I hate when the track is crowded! 190 cars, 1 run per hour, sucks!

With that said, here are the numbers...

1) 13.465 @ 105.14, 2.031-60' no nitrous & I hit the limiter in 2nd.
2) 13.460 @ 108.66, 2.050-60' w/nitrous but I shifted too high.

The frist thing I'll say is drag radials are GREAT! Get a set if you want lower 60's. With more practice I will be in the 1.9's for sure! I need to put the nitrous on an on/off switch instead of the push button switch I have now. It impeads my shifting having to push and hold this little button down as I am shifting. On my previous track visits it has taken me ~6 runs to get my 60' times to plateau and another ~4 to get my shifting down so the ET's to plateau. It comes down to needing some driver warm up times to get into a grove, and 1 run per hour dont cut it! At the other track I usually go to I can hot lap and can make allot more pass's, I usually do 15-20.

Excuses aside I am kinda indifferent about the new times. I was expecting mutch faster results, the MPH I am running should have me in high to mid 12's. But a new best is still a new best!

Wow!! 105mph without the NOS. I'd definately say that VI is working.

I'd love to see your car. Sorry we didn't meet when I was in New Orleans in late January. I was only in New Orleans for a day, the rest of my time was spent in St. Martinville and Venice. I plan on getting more work in New Orleans so I'll keep you posted.

I think Matt saw the fast and the furious way too many times. Push button nitrous I'm already having hard time in my auto to remember to open bottle, purge and flip that arm switch. LOL

Dang Matt, sorry to hear you were not able to get into the 12s. I was so sure that you could hit high 12s at least. I heard about the track being very busy. I talked to a few Honda guys at my school and a few of them only able to get one run in. They said it's very busy at that track most of the times. The heck with this track, join us at the Hattiesburg track! I should get my tires in hopefully before next weekend. I'm going to run on my stock rims again, but I'm not going to run on the balding tires again. I ordered me a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE950s. This time I better make sure I don't run with almost a full tank of gas like I did last time(dumb huh?). I'm going to lower my tire pressure too, you think 25psi is about right? Hey, you think I should remove the front passenger seat, should shave off some weight right?

20psi is what I used to run at the strip on my street tires. Seats, sure why not...

hmmmmm

i was definitely expecting better times with those sick dyno numbers you're posting...but keep practicing and the times should drop...i dunno about a max but in my civic 105mph was a 13.5 and 108 was a 13.2...but that was with traction problems...

Keep practicing and show us some 12's! you've def. got the power on tap now u just gotta put it down.

With 108mph traps you are good for high-12s, I know guys who have run 12.8s and 12.7s (on slicks not DRs) in hondas with those traps, so you are good for high 12s I would think if you can get your nitrous activation woes fixed and get those 60's down a bit.

Good job, and nice attempt. Very nice trap speeds indeed. keep working on it man, 12's are definitely do-able as long as you get more runs to practice on.

First off Conrats MardiGrasMax on your time improvement don't be dissappointed so soon with more track time and practice there's no doubt you'll be running times you'll be proud of.

20psi on front tires? That's not too low is it? How about the rear?

So who did you lined up against on your two runs?

20 is fine some of the guys go 18. Rear I usually put up to the max the tire is rated for. The first run was against a LT1 Z28, I squeaked past him, he ran a 13.531 @101.18 to my 13.465 @105.14 I beat a BPU GSX with my third run wich the time was yucky!

Could the fact that Matt and alot of maxima's have trouble hitting low times with such high trap speeds be that we have Front wheel drive ?

It seems no matter how many pounds of boost you run or whatever it is useless because our driving wheels are the front ones.

What do you guys think?

Hopefully, after the aftermarket builds up for power and handling, it'll build up a little for traction (i.e.- WSP Radial Arms).

Yea but it seems with these sub frame connectors and radials, slicks, and other things I forget, FWD STILL can't touch RWD w/a 10-ft. pole regards to launching/traction.
