Anyone been pulled over for exhaust?

I just got my new exhaust and its so loud. Like, its louder than half of my friends trucks. Like today, I set off about four car alarms in my neighbor, and my music was off. Anyways, I was driving down a neighborhood street and a cop gave me a dirty look. I was just wondering if anyone had ever been pulled over and the officer said something about the exhaust.

it might be considered noise pollution and you might get a ticket for it

I have been pulled over for my exhaust before. The cop told me that I needed to make my car quieter. I said that I didn't think it was louder than the law allows which is like 90 decibels. The cop goes, "listen here I don't have a way of checking exactly how loud it is." He then says, "listen to your car and listen to mine that's what tells me your car is too loud." I was like, "ok uh hu sure I'll fix it." Luckily he just gave me a warning. My car is even louder now than it was then since I hollowed out my cat.

In Virginia you can get an "Exhaust Violation," which is pretty subjective on the part of the cop since he/she has no real way to test if you are over 90 decibels or whatever the allotted amount is. Papasmurf, who lives in Maryland got one in Virginia and used the defense I stated in court and the judge wasnt buying it. He basically walked out of court and now he can't drive in Virginia.

what type of exhaust do you have on? nobody in my town has ever been stopped for their exhaust that I know of. My friend drove his hybrid crx/ls motor with open headers for a week or so and that thing is LOUD.

It's just a WSP y pipe with a universal straight through muffler. I didn't expect it to be this loud at all. In fact, I almost got a new b-pipe with no resonator becaue I didn't think it would be loud enough. Maybe I'm just not used to the volume level, but it sounds awesome Sometimes, I have trouble drowning it out with my bass.

Actually, I noticed today that it was a little bit quiet compared to yesterday which is when it was put on. Did anyone else notice this? Like the exhaust being quieter the next day?
