ECU Upgrade?

Okay, can someone look at the list of my mods in my sig and tell me how much the ECU upgrade might do for me?

Also, where do I get it? Stillen? Jim Wolf? Better yet...where do I get it cheap?

Search is your friend. Judging by your injector posts, I suggest you browse though ALOT of searching. Good luck

First off Stillen does not make a ECU upgrade, it is all done through Jim Wolf Technology.

Second off, don't even think of getting the Jet ECU upgrade as it sucks horribly!

Third do not get the Superchips upgrade as it also sucks!

FOurth don't get the Venon 400 module as it really sucks a$$ also!

I know what I am talking about as I know two 4th gen guys and a 3 rd gen guy that went with the Venom, Jet, & also tried the Superchips upgrade.

If you want to do an ECU go through Jim Wolf Tech or go through a company that I go to here in Lexington, Ky called RTC Technology and they can reprogram your ECU. I personally would recommend the JWt as it is what I have and love it!

Re: Thanks...

JWT is definitely the way to go. No one else has been tuning Nissans ECUs as long. They are definitely the one and only.

off topic but your sig is 1,111 characters and you are over the limit, and looks like a entire post. please shorten it to the required 250 or less, or you will ruin it for the rest of us. or make a post with your mods and just put a link to that thread in your sig.
thank you

Is there something wrong with having your ECU reprogrammed? This is what I did because I was told I would save $300. I didn't think the JWT was worth it at the time. I have never had my car on a dyno...

Isn't the ECU an EEPROM? I bought a computer program for my buddy years ago that came with a serial connector that allowed you to reprogram ECU's (Only cost about $50 for the software and cables)
All you needed was a laptop, the connectors, and a blacklight, and either duct tape or masking tape, unless the EEPROM had a semi-permanent cover that could be re-attached...
We did it to my mothers' truck, but she got ****ed when she found out what we did, even tho we upped her fuel economy and got rid of the limiter <cough, cough>

I think so, but from what I've heard our ECU has to have a connecter soldered on something like that. I think on our stock/unmodified ECU, there is no connector/port so thats where JWT comes into play. so I doubt programming our stock ECU is a DIY job...but who knows

Ahhh, I see
I know most domestic cars it's just a regular EEPROM, just leave a blacklight on it for about 4 hours and you're good to go!
The kit we had said it worked on Nissan and Mazda, but I dunno the makes and years, and what exactly it would entail... By the time I got interested in reverse engineering everything and figuring out how it worked, my buddy left for Germany, and I haven't heard from him since...
I should check it out tho, I think you can still buy the kits

I have no idea
I don't really know much about them. If you look them up and ask for Mike he can tell you what it involves and how they do it. I've never had it on a dyno to find out for sure what kind of power gains I got from it but my gas mileage changed quite a bit. He said I had to use 93 octane gas too. I assume this was because of the change in the fuel spark curve.

probably because of timing advance....well did YOU notice any difference in driving?? they didn't pull the fast one one you like JET and Superchips(just bump the rev-limiter)

The main diff I noticed was that it pulled much harder off the line and that I could top out much faster, although since I have not yet seen exactly how fast it would go cause my speedo only goes to 125mph and I still have a whole lot more gear...
It DID make my tach all funny. I don't think it's accurate anymore. I hate to get another one. I don't like the tach as big as your head look, ya know?
