Re: Help Me My F***in Car Wont Start

I have this problem with my wifes 90 gxe all the time...When the weather changes from cold one day to warm the next after a rain or something I get real bad condensation on the motor (hey I live in the south) and I have to take the distributor cap off and clean the inside and it will start up. That may not be the problem but give it a try...it always works for me.

Hope this helps.
also do a search I beleive I have seen this problem discussed before with other solutions.

just take a philips screwdriver and undo the screws on the cap, and take a dry clean towel and wipe the contacts inside the dist. be careful not to loose the little piece in the middle (I dont know what its called but it connects the coil to the rotor internally) and wipe the rotor down too.

I hope that is what it is.
good luck.

You may not have to do it then...if that is the problem it may dry out so try cranking it first.

also try and search for other possible solutions to try just in case that isn't the problem.

If he has been trying to crank it for a while... he might have flooded it by now. (Especially if he is smelling gas fumes out the exhuaust) I would try to figure out a why to disable the fuel injectors and crank it over a few times before expecting it to start again. (Do this along with drying out the distributor) You may want to try attaching a timing light to one of the wires while cranking it to see if you are even getting a spark.

Then you have your solution: Always have a hot chick around when you drive your car!

Hrmm, but for my $0.02, my car would do the same thing whenever it rained or if there was too much moisture in the air until I changed my distributor cap and rotor...
