Cost to trade in 2001 SE for 2002 SE?

Just wondering if anyone has traded in their 2001
Max for a 2002? I have a fully loaded auto 2001 Max
SE with 10k miles and was wondering what the extra
cost might be to trade it in for a new 2002 max se
fully loaded with all the options including HLSD but
no Nav.

What is the general cost difference between the two
cars new (2001 vs 2002)? And is it worth the trade
for a 2002 auto SE? Thanks in advance.

You would get hammered. I think most posted here that dealers were only offering $12-14K trade-in. Unless you are paid off on your 2K1, it's not worth it, IMHO.

Probably more worth the wait to do a private sale than trade IMHO.

delaers offer a lot more then 12k on the car, i heard people getting here for a 2001 like 20k. expect paying about 10 grand for the switching. You can't get HLSD only the 6sp comes with that option.

Regardless of whether it is paid off or not...

let's say, on average, most people have a 2001 which originally cost, for the sake of argument, $26000.00...let's also assume you can get $16000.00 (which seems to be on the higher side of what is really happening out there) out of that same vehicle.

Hmmm...$10,000.00 paid for using a car for one model season...approx. $833.33 PER MONTH!!!! Granted alot is normal depreciation which is always brutal in the first year, but still....geez...you must either absolutely LOVE the next model or absolutely HATE the current car. For me it would have to be a whole hell of a lot more updated and technically superior to merit that kind of loss, Max or not. I know this is a very crude and rough analysis, but the point is still evident.

My $.02, which by the way, won't be going toward a tradein on a 2k2...

Totally agree, if you have a 2K1, instead of loosing 10K + in the trade in, put some of that money on your 2K-2K1 and you'll have one heck of a exclusive car.

Cheers

I did it!

I had a 2k1 auto and traded it in for a 2k2 6-speed. I didn't have leather or Bose on the 2k1 and had 23k miles on it. I got a little over $17k for it. The big savings was on interest. They had 0.9%-3.9% interest loans. I saved over $2k on interest! Over all I got a brand new max with the same equipment (except tranny) for the same car payment. No out of pocket expenses. I am very happy with my decision. I really wanted a manual trans all along.

i had a 2k1 se auto fulley loaded with 30k+ on the odometer and got 20k for it..... the difference in trade in and a 2k2 SE 6 speed fully loaded was 7k with the extended warrenty out the door! u have to shop it and get each dealer to play off of the other ones price for trade in..... my case was a fluke i should have gotten 16,800 for the car! good luck and IMO DO IT!!! big difference! well worth the money!

Well, it sure is really expensive just to get an extra 33 crank HP. I always think of that and that helps me keep my 2000. Sure people will disagree with me because of track times between the two, but it is only a second at most for a ton of money. Not worth it.

that is a good deal you got there. i was hoping
that a 2001 max se fully loaded auto with 10k miles
and 7 months on the road would get me 20-21k. then
i figured that maybe get a great deal on the 2002 se
fully loaded for maybe 26k or less. that would be
a difference of 6k for a stronger engine and hids
which i figure is worth 2k. then 4k bucks for 10k
miles means i would have paid 40 cents a mile which
isnt bad at all. plus i would like to get the
majestic blue color that comes on the 2002. the
possibility of getting 0.9% over my 3.9% might make
this trade in an even deal more or less. thanks once again
for your inputs.
