Grease on the inside of my rim?

I was cleaning my rims yesterday and noticed that my driver side front rim was coated with a greenish grease. It took forever to get it off. I think my CV boot may have busted. I did a search and found how to check if the boot was busted, but I won't be able to check until tonight. Has anyone ever had this happen? There's no clicking noise when I turn so I hope there is no damage to the CV joint. Any help would be appreciated.

You may be able to replace the boot and repack the grease without doing any damage to the CV joint.

If you want new axles...go here.

same thing happened to me, except the grease is black, not green. my mechanic told me it would be about $160 to fix it. does anybody else have any estimates?

My estimate is $140, which sucks in my opinion. I'm investing in some jackstands, a floor jack & and some better tools. How hard is it to replace your own CV boot or joint for that matter?
