Has anyone noticed that throttle response is different each time you drive. When I drive my 2k2 auto sometimes the throttle is touchy giving good acceleration but other times it is not as responsive.

I use 92 or 93 octane, I have tried different gasolines. Maybe its the weather.

Anyone have any ideas on why this may happen ?

 

There's a lot of factors involved, weather is one of them. You may also be interested to know that the ECU also learns and adapts to your way of driving and shifts accordingly.

 

I agree...as with most new car makes/models the ecu/tcm/pcm with learn and adapt to driving style and or throttle input behavior. If you constantly drive "hard" it (the computer) will change to a more aggressive (relatively speaking) shift/response pattern. I am not a Nissan expert (yet) but I know (being a Assist Serv Mgr many yrs and car lines) that it is a common practice to help with emissions and make driving 1 car different for many types of drivers.

Pardon my ignorance but this is the first time I hear about this feature... Are you sure about this? Where can I find documentation on it?

The reason I'm so interested is that since I got my 2K2/SE I feel that starting from a street corner is never the same. Sometimes the gas pedal acts like an 'on/off' switch and sometimes like a normal 'well behaved' pedal for a smooth start (especially after doing a lot of slow city driving). I still think that this is just 'me' getting used to the feel of the gas pedal but you got me wondering...

Why is it that everybody thinks their auto tranny and/or ECU adapts to their driving style?

SOME cars have ECU/TCM programs like this, but I've never heard of this on Maxima's...
