The driver side front axle had popped out of my tranny and he found that the axle was very rusty on sealing surface. He said that they(Place I had tranny put in) did not bother cleaning the axle before putting it in to the tranny. He said to whatch for any other leaks because he does not now why the axle was popped out. Should I be worried about rust on the other axle? I will be going to the shop that installed the tranny and give them one last chance to pay for the $1000, for the damages and repairs done to my car because of them. then time for lawyer.

the axles sometimes don't get completely popped into place, even though they look close. I've done this several times, but noted that it looked about 1/8" out of place... couple more whacks with the rubber mallet and it's completely seated.

the passenger side seal is almost impossible to screw up because of the carrier bearing. rust may cause the seal to go bad, but I would wait and see what happens.

Be sure to note both these problems on the paperwork if you have to get a lawyer. using inferior/damaged/worn parts they knew were bad and then telling you it's not their problem. tsk tsk tsk.

Heh. I was right. I would becareful about the rust on the CV might damage the new(I hope) output seal and cause leaks later one. It's obvious that your mechanic is an complete idiot.
