tires for 2k1 se

I have just purchased a 2k1 maxima se with 215x55x16 Toyo tires. The tires have some tread left, but i'm thinking of replacing them. What kinds of experiences have people had with other brands of tires for the maxima? Should i get a set of dedicated winter tires? I live in Montana and i'm not sure these will get me around during the 7 months of winter we have. If so, who has had good luck certain brands of snow tires. Thanks

I put a set of 245-45-17 BF Goodrich CompT/A KDWS on the wife's 2kSE. I havent had any prolems with the 7" rims. They are a excellent Ultra-high performane All Season - pretty good choice where you drive in wet a large portion of the year (Portland ,OR) and if you get cought out in the nsnow they do ok. Paid $600 Mounted and Balanced for four. Much, much better than the OEM Potenza's

With that much snow in the winter I would definitely get a winter tire. I got the Toyo Garit Observe from Schwabs (215/55-16) with steel wheels. I used them all winter this year and I think they work awesome in ice/snow, plus they aren't too bad on dry roads...I would even go as far as to say they are a better handling tire than the OEM Potenzas on dry pavement! I just bought some Bridgestone Potenza RE950s (235/45-17) for my non-winter tires. They are incredible. Check out the reviews at tirerack.com.
