Nissan Warranty Service

Hey everyone...I just wanted to give props to Thousand Oaks, CA Nissan's service Department. I took my max in to get the Fuel Cut TSB done and also mentioned a couple other problems (the shaking during braking and the POS Bose stereo). They ended up having to order me a new ECU since my old one wouldn't take the new TSB code, they resurfaced my rotors, and they ordered me a new stereo which will be going in next week. I have mods and after all the horror stories I've heard on here about service, I was glad to get taken care of.

One other thing, with this new ECU is there anything I should do to ensure maximum performance? It feels like my car might have lost a step with the new ECU...but that's by butt dyno.

Good to hear you have a great service dept. It's so rare to hear something like that around here.

5th gen question

I thinking telling about what happened with my 5th gen maxima and what is wrong with the 5th gen stereo and asking a question about my 5th gen ECU is fairly 5th gen related. But that's just me...

Wow, I can't believe you got such good service from nissan. Everytime I took my car to nissan, they stole my change and something mysteriously broke at the exact same visit (first my overhead light and then my cigarette lighter). Bastards. Anyway, I have a sweet shop hookup now so I don't go to nissan anymore. Glad to hear that all nissan dealers aren't bad.

About the ECU, from what I understand (I may be wrong), the way you drive after reset (or in this case install) affects how the ecu ajusts. So if you drive like a grandma, then the ecu will adjust to that driving. However, if you reset and then drive around reving higher, speeding, etc..the ecu will ajust to that and perform better. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this. My friend did this with his wrx and said he felt a noticable difference.

Yea, believe it or not there are a couple good dealers out there and mine Zarzour Nissan is one of them but overall Nissan service really does suck. My last dealer Northcoast Nissan was not nearly as good.

Re: Nissan Warranty Service

Same folks I bought my Max from. They treated me decently... no complaints... I'd recommend them.
