I have a 95 GXE and I went looking at the 2002 maximas. To me side air bags are very important. I was amazed when the salesman told me I only could get side air bags on the GLE. What kind of garbage is this? Why tie leather seats with air bags? If Nissan cares about safety every model should have a side air bag option (or they should come standard).

But this is still forcing you to buy packages to get safety!

 

My SE has side airbags, I'm pretty sure its an option across the line.

 

I just went to the Nissan web site and it looks like side air bags are an available option in which case there are 2 explanations for this:

1)The sales manager is misinformed - hard to believe that the sales manager wouldn't know the facts - its his job

2)The sales manager was trying to get me to upgrade to the GLE

What do you think? If its 2 its pretty sleezy.

I'd bet money that it was 2.

 

he probably wanted to get rid of the GLE in the lot, he saw maybe tha most people get the SE, who knows........those sales guys are pretty dumb.

I remebmer this one time, i went to the dealer when the 2k2 came out, the sales guy there didn't even know the engine was upgraded, he said to me and my friend that soem minor changes to the interior, i started crakin up on him saying how can he work there and he doesn't even know the specs of the NEW 2k2 MAXIMA....dumb as*

I also have Side Airbags on my 2002 SE. I think it only comes with the traction control & Meridian options...

You can get side airbags on SEs & GLEs, but not on the GXEs. Side bags are important to me as well... but the SIDE crash test rating did not fair any better with them. (see below) But I assume (& hope) that they provide a bit more protection.

Nope not available on GXE's neither is a Sunroof from them weird.
