Springs - Are there any special adjustments that need to be done?

ok...the question here is:

I've noticed a lot of people who got springs installs got it done at a speed shop.....Why don't too many peepz do it at a local mechanic. Let's assume the price isn't the issue in this case.

When a mechanic is installing the springs will he/she need to make any specific adjustments to th car after/during the install? Meaning...is it as simple as just taking old springs out, putting new springs in (springs drop to a specific fixed height on their own)...and that's it.......or are there other things that have to be done to the car's balancing/riding ability...that mechanics don't know about?

thanks guys.

you're supposed to get an alignment a couple of weeks after the install, when the springs have settled down
