Maxima's Are Ok in my book

Hi,

I do not have a Maxima or have ver owned one. I have driven several and I like them. I just purchased a 2002 Acura TL (could not paas up deal). I visit acura-tl.com a lot and find this forum through it.

I think the maxima and the tl share a lot of similar traits. Good speed and quickenss, similar HP (more with type-s then the tl-p), smilar interiors, navi units, creature comforts (leather, sound systems etc..), reliability, excellent pricing and little or no press on wither vehilces. It seems I always read lexus this or BMW that or MB this. Simlar vehicles (is 300, es300, c-series, 3-series) but more expensive.

Just wanted to say hello. Even though I do not have a maxima, I like to see what other people are doing with simlar type vehilces.

Maybe I will see some of you guys on the strees in ATL. I would like to race a Maxima just for fun.

Later,

Mark

Open minded, fair, objective guys like u

are okay by me to drop in anytime...enjoy your car & come back often!

PS: Dont tell a soul but...had the TL Type S 6-speed been available when I had to buy my car it would have been a tough choice indeed!

hey mark,
i personally like the acura's also and was lookin at em when buying a car. decided on a max cause it's a 5 sp. anyways, if u go to the southeast forum, u'll find that a lot of us hang out every so often, and this is in atlanta. u go up to barrett? i'm sure u'll see some of us up there, and i'm also sure that any of us would be more than willing to give u a run.

Are you talking about 'if' a 6 speed were available and not 'had one been'?

There is no 6 speed TL.

I live off of Barrett where it intersects with 120. I drive a Silver 2002 TL (no S type here). I have no mods yet. There really arent any good inexpesive mods for the TL's expcet CAI or ram-air. Will probaly get a ram-air sometime soon.

The max is a good car. Almost as good as a TL

There is no 6 speed TL.

I think we all know what he meant, but those two statements both mean the same thing either way. "Had one been available when" and "If one were available when."

Welcome to the board, Mark0824.

Hey dude! Good choice. Can't go wrong with Max or TL-CLs S.

After my $7,000 savings (price differential & 3.9% financing) it was easy for me to choose Max, over TL. But if Acura had the 3.9% & the TL was 1-2K cheaper... it would have been a close call *hmf acu*hmf ra *hmf... something stuck in my throat - i'm ok now.

Last car I had was a 2000 Accord Coupe V6. Same engine as you have except for 20hp more on your ride. Do yourself a favor, get the RS Akimoto intake and a Greddy full catback. Your car will never be as fast as our Maxes, but I guarantee, with that set-up, who cares? I also recommend the Eibach pro-kit, had it on my Accord, makes a whole world of difference. Good choice on your car, enjoy it.

The Honda and the Acura a geared very differntly. It has 25hp more then the accord. If you look at the 1999 Tl's with the same engine and hp copmared to the 2000-2003's, there is a .5 sec time differecne from 0-60 and a .2.-.4 1/4 mile difference. The stock (and auto) 2000-2001 Maxima's and the stcok 2000-2003Tl's should be very close in speed. 2002 Is another story (maybe not so bad with an auto).

This is a very good site for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. It listes the source and date for the speed times.
0-60 Times

I plan on getting a short ram in the next month or so.
