i don't even bother unless it's a wide, wide street. i normally end up going into a drive way and backing out.....when it comes to parking, like at a mall, it is sometimes embarrassing when i had to back up and all that crap, even turning the wheel a little "left" right before entering the parking space doesn't help...i guess my 18's is partially to blame too...HOWEVER, i have a solution, i would drive right by that parking spot and......
BACK INTO it!!!! yeah, i know it like 4:30 in the morning, time for some ZZZZZZZZzzzzz.........

 

In the military, backing into a parking space is known as "combat parking" since it allow you to depart your location immediately if the need arises. Don't laugh, I've been to locations where this practice was mandatory.

 

no offence to the African american brothers on this board.. but I heard from one of my african american friends that the reason they always back into a parking spot is that they can get out faster if "someone" is chasing you, or try to jump you.. don't know how true this is though.. but I do see a lot of african american back their car into the parking spot

 

if you have people chasing you a lot maybe thats a reason to back in, but thats not the reason why everyones does.

 

I always try to back into a parking spot because its more convienent when your leaving. I see tons of people who back OUT of a spot and don't look back and hit a person/car/shopping cart!! Its too bad that many of the drivers on the road cannot reverse park.

 

I don't know about all you guys, but I can't see a thing out the back window of my Max! This is the worst car I've ever owned when it comes to visibility for backing.

mirrors. i dont really use my mirrors though. i just know the size of my car and i can just "tell" if i need to cut it to the right or something. but if there is a little person right behind me i dont think i would ever know. i do my best.

 

really? I never had that problem in my 2k Max, but the i35 yea... because the passenger headrests, and I think the platform back there is a little higher to accomodate the sunshade.

 

I know what you mean. I know the size of my car and when to turn the wheel, etc., but if you can't see what's behind you to steer around in the first place....

Mirrors.Thats what their there for.I once outran a BMW 318.He was going forward and I was going in reverse.Got me 100 bucks and the kid was laughed at for quite a while at school.Then raced the same kid in my CRX HF in the same car and he totaled his dads 318 trying to keep up.More laughing at the boy.Felt bad for him though, the E brake went(no joke)up his **** and he needed a couple of daddy stitches.

 

Didn't some on this board with 5th gen with 17" shave off some of the stopper to increase max steering angle? That could be your solution.

 

i worked at a wendy's for 3 years, and i noticed that 90+% of the people who reverse parked were african americans.

Does it really matter is my question, I back in so its easy to get out, im one of the people who will just back up without looking sometimes and Im tired of getting hoot'd at, my friend refuses to park normal he backs in his not African American, a matter a fact he does the most ridiculous procedure to back his car in, and when Ur at a meet everybody backs there car in.

btw im not offended if I came off that way I just dont get the observation because I've never noticed it, I thought U back in to either hide the back of Ur car or just to make it easy when U want to leave

NO OFFENSE TAKEN.......there is truth to that statement, that is one of the reasons why. You never know when you may have to make a quick escape. That not only goes for African Americans but for ANYONE. It just makes sense, and like the guy say its called "combat parking" for a quick departure
