Anyones A/C COMPRESSOR giving off cabin noise? (hissing)

I'm really getting sick of getting jerked off by mechanics. I am in college and don't have time to really investigate the problem. Basically, I have been getting interior noise from SOMETHING and I think that it is the A/C compressor. Its a fairly loud hissing noise. All this after I paid a fortune to replace the idler pulley, which I thought was the culprit. Anyone else having a problem like this or am I the only one? Also leaking oil and was told its the rear seal or something like that. I could use some advice!

Thanks

After a search, now im really freakin out. Is it possible that everything is out of wack. Including the water pump, A/C compressor and crank shaft pulley??

I notice hissing when the heat or ac is on at the lowest setting. But at the higher settings it is fine. Learn to live with it if you can.

ac compressor

you might have found my post when you did a search. I'm not sure this is what you've got but I had a loud sound coming from my ac compressor. it was not a hiss like leaking air but a high pitch squeal. my ac compressor ended up freezing up. well the crank was still spinning so the belts burned up and my pulleys got thrown out of wack. they were all warped. find someone you trust and get it fixed. good luck

I have a hissing sound, sounds like a S/C when standing still. I remember me posting something about this and getting the answer. Time for a search.

I have the same problem too. When the climate control fan is set to low speeds, it sounds like a whistling or hissing. Usually, setting the fan to speeds 3 or 4 drowns out the sound. If your using your heater at the low speeds, just use to radio, or cd to block the sound out.
I remember I did a search on this once, and the problem may be a leaf or something stuck in the A/C blower compartment.
Not sure, again, use the search.

I have searched and have found that more than likely i will need to replace the a/c compressor. Ouch, this is going to hurt big time $$$! Looks like NOS is going to be put off for awhile. What worries me is that my crank shaft pulley is wobbling around a little as well as the a/c compressor sounding like $h!T. I have heard that if you mess up your crank shaft pulley you are going to be looking at an engine rebuild. Is anyone a Mechanic? Is this something that i need to do ASAP or can i chill with this for a few months? I have talked to a few mechanics in the area and honestly i cant trust them at all! These guys just seem to be in it for the loot. Ideas, please!?

Welp...looks like im going to go ahead and take it up the rear from nissan. Im fairly positive that is just the A/C pulley but they feel that i need a comressor as well and they also promissed me that it would take care of the annoying whining. They better be right. And the funny thing was that the guy couldn't even really look me in the eye and tell me what the prob was. Oh, and this is a $670 fix plus $50 for over-nighting the damn thing.
