(please no comments on that, the point is i bought a maxima) anyways, they put their logo on the on the left part of the trunk near tail lights. so what do you think i should use to remove it? it's not quite a decal but i don't know what to do. i'd appreciate any opinions...thanx

make sure you re-wax the area where you use wd40, and try your fingers before going after it with a knife. it's probably just held on by adhesive, so it should come off fairly easily.

Goo-gone works great to remove the adhesive too!

It depends on if its like hard plastic, luckily I didnt have one but my moms max did. You shouldnt have too many problems if the paint has been taken care of. A wax cleaner is good for polishing that up and getting any flaws out but be careful not to rub down the clearcoat.

you could also try using a clay bar on the area where the dealer tag used to be. it may help get more of the residue (if any) off

DON'T USE A KNIFE!

Short list of items that should never come anywhere near automotive paint (in good condition):

KNIVES
steel wool
scotchbrite pads
zippers, blue-jean rivets
basically. . .anything abrasive or with a sharp edge

Start w/ a hairdryer
Bug & Tar remover or Goo-Gone
Fingernail

After the sticker is off, follow with a coat of cleaner-wax
Use a polish first, if the area needs more conditioning than a cleaner-wax can provide, then wax.

Also, I assumed this was common paint-care knowledge, but I'll share for anyone who's unaware:

Don't EVER write messages on a dirty car's paint like "WASH ME" or some other helpful advice!!!!! The dirt between your finger & the paint will leave your message SCRATCHED into the paint!

(Sorry, I'm a 'lil sensitive on this - got a dark car that stays clean for about 3 days, tops, and some dumba$$ did this to my hood last week)

I would never use a knife to take a sticker off on the paint of my car. I would heat it up, and try to peel it off with your finger nails and then use somekind of adhesive remover to clean it, and then wax it.

I don't know what state you are in but here in MA the dealer is *required* to remove their logo if you request, and it doesn't matter if the car is used or new. In addition, the law states if they damage the paint or vehicle in any way while removing the logo they are required to fix it at their expense. Other states may be similar, so check your local laws.

If you want to do it yourself, the suggestions above should work quite well.

my friends and I tell the dealership that we don't want any front plates or stickers on the car or we're not going to pay for it. You should try that next time.
