I've been reading through all these threads for the past few weeks. I must start by saying I am very impressed with the loyalty of this group. I've owned a few "cool" cars so far...including a couple stang GT's and a GSR. I'm currently looking at the 2002 SE 6-spd with the HLSD. Now, I have a FEW questions and I'm hoping that some people here can help me out!
First off: Is the nav system worth the $$? Does it work well?

Next: color color color. Goodness. I love the grey lustre, however I'm afraid that a: I'll get bored with it and b: too many people have it. What's the opinion on that? Should I go merlot and be different??

Third: How fast is this car? I've seen nothing about 1/4 mile or 0-60 on the 2002. I'm tossed around the idea of getting the ugly WRX, the sweeet looking CL type-s 6spd and even the Audi a4. I've starting to focus in on the Maxima, but how does it hold up to these other cars?

4th and final: I really like the looks of the cl-type s. However I've owned a GSR and I hated that engine...it had nothing down low and I'm afraid the type-s may have similar honda engineering. The 4-doors is also nice, since I'm coming from an explorer...It may be too much of a shock to go right to 2. What are your unbiased opinions on this car???

I'm sure you'll be loving the Maxima after you test drive it... I was looking at the CL-S too... not much room, that's for sure... The TL however does have its positives, including space, the leather is much softer, and such... and its fast... but in the end, you'll feel better getting the Maxima, you'll save some money, and you'll enjoy the Nissan Engineering. As for color, I have a Sterling Mist... looks sweet, especially since the grill is similar to the body color... I have black leather, stays clean, looks sporty, no complaints, except that it is a little rigid... guess you gotta put some conditioner on it and soften it up. Oh and get a radar detector ... I used to drive a Camry and an Altima, you'd be surprised at how quickly and quietly you start exceeding the speed limit... 100+ sounds like 50 in other cars... hope you enjoy your pick... go Max Oh and WRX's are OOOoogly...

 

pardon the brief answers, but they are to the point:

-the navigation isn't worth the money at all.. people i know who have it don't even use it.
-grey lustre is nice, but majestic blue seems to be the most popular and rare color. can't go wrong with sterling mist.
-acura is okay, bland styling and not worth the extra cash.

1/4 mile times have ranged from 14.2 - 14.8 consistantly. This car really pulls!!!or you could do like I did and get a 2001 and supercharge it and be in the 13's! Good Luck and I say go for the 2002 in Majestic Blue!

 

Ain't that the truth. What's the point of a video screen if you can't also play DVDs and MP3w on it. Then, it would be worth the $2K

 

Well, I test drove my FIRST maxima today! Wow, that was great. Unfortunately, it was the GLE AUTO. The had no SE's and NO 6-spds...in fact, the majestic blue GLE was the only max on the lot. They had a truckload coming in later in the week (friday??) who knows. However, they did say they could get me any car in about 2 hours. Ok...whatever. Anyhow, I loved the car. What a smooth ride. They wanted to sell me a max right there (which car dealership doesn't?) They had me call in the buyout on my truck, etc etc. I had to get outa there, or I would have driven one home tonight! I would have too...if I had the cash right now. I guess now I just have to figure out color. I like the blue...like the grey. Touch choice. Might just go merlot and be different. definitly getting leather...and sunroof..screw the nav, get the HLSD, and 6-spd. Thanks for the posts!

I must disagree. I use it ! It is great ! You can find restaurants by food type , Atms, gas stations, Hospitals and Points of Interests. I travel up to the Los Angeles area a lot, and I love it ! It was a toss up for me between the Maxx and an Acura, I could get which ever one I wanted, and went for the Maxx.... I love it, 4 weeks into ownership ! I wanted Glacier White and spotted it coming off the truck with Navi and evrtything else.... $29,400 out the door ! Great Bang for the Buck ! I say YES to Navi.... Ask people who HAVE it, not those who didn't get it .... It will be your best advice.
