Cheaper 3.0 VQ headers.Hotshot
Prompted by the thread that michaelnyden started, i have decided to help raise some interest of my own by starting a seperate thrend.
Currently the only decent headers available for the 3.0 maxima Are made by Cattman, while these headers are good quality you pay a premium price.
last that i checked Cattman headers retail for $825 not very cheap.
http://www.customenterprise.com/view.../vts/design004
What if we could have headers that are same quality if not better but for $200-300 less? Sounds good to me.
I am not sure if they will be long tube or short tube and not sure which will be more benificial so if you going to complain and b!tch please don't. The engineers at Hotshot will decided which would be more benifical and more realistic.
I have contacted hotshot and they assured me that they have a 4th gen 3.0 maxima comming in sometime in January to begin Prototyping. I assume this is michaelnyden's car. one a Designed has been agreed upon and all finalizations are made they will need 12 confirmed pre paid buyers to begin production on the headers and you will recieve the headers.
I spoke to Martha over at Hotshot sales and she explained that if there were to be any complications preventing the header production a FULL refund would be issued. Basically i think this would be excellent if we could get this underway and it would be very affordable she tells me $500-$600( the cost of 5.5gen hotshot headers).
If you interested e-mail Hotshot with your contact information and they will contact you once design is finalized and its time to pay. i think this is an excellent deal and i hope that 11 of you can would be willing to step up and put your money down. I will be e-mail hotshot my info and hopefully be one of the first customers. I hope they can make this possible since i do have a 99 can with california emission and would like if i don't have any check engine lights.
Remeber these headers are also made in the USA and hotshot is know for their quality. $500-600 is Alot cheaper than you can get the cattman header on any group buy....

For the same price they will make a set that will fit so why not just buy the ones that are made for the 3.0. the problem is there are alot of cheap people in here so getting people to come up with the money before takes a bit of work.

but then again those headers that Hotshot currently Make are for 5th gen cars so i am not sure how diffrent the engie bay clearences are and the crossmember mounting. Also EGR tube is imprtant to line up and i guess new )2 sensor bungs would be easy enough

Production is not going to begin until mid January after Micheal's car is acessed and a design has been established. Also i spoke to John at hotshot and he said that the first 12 guys may be able to get these headers for $500

Take your blinders off people and look around for a change. The HS and Cattman headers both fit the VQ30DE, VQ30DE-K and the VQ35DE. The only thing you need to do to use the HS headers on the Fed spec cars is to weld on the EGR bung (unless you don't care about the EGR) and adjust the AC compressor line to clear the front O2 sensor.
But for the $275 savings comes $275 in aggravation and extra work to make them actually fit like they're supposed to. Many of the sets of Maxima HS headers I have installed fit about as good as OJ Simpsons bloody glove.

If that means that you do not have EGR then there shouldn't be anything extra for you to do to install them than what is required for a 2k2, other than the front O2 clearance of the AC compressor line.
