2K2 6-Speed Red Line MT-90 change (Install Pics)

I think this has probably been posted before, but I haven't seen one yet for the 2002 6-speed.

I changed out my fluid today with 1100 miles on the car, and put in Red Line MT-90. I also took lots of pics and did a writeup which is on my web site (link at left).

The procedure and capacities for the 2K2 6-speed are different from the prior (95-2001) 5-speed transmission, so for those of you with the 6-speed it may be worth your while to take a look at the how-to.

This stuff makes a terrific difference in shifting, and I highly recommend it. Since the 2K2 only takes 2.5 quarts, it's an even cheaper mod than it used to be!

Hey Greg, I just noticed that you installed a RSB on your 2002 Maxima.
I have a question, I had the Stillen RSB on my 2000 Maxima and could not take the brackets off the car before I sold it. So now I only have the bar.

How much did the brackets cost you from Stillen?

Thanks.

The brackets alone were $100. Sounds steep, but when you consider they are 8 pieces at $12.50 a piece it doesn't sound so bad.

Thanks for the compliments. It's not like it's a tough "how-to" or anything, but sometimes it's just nie to see what everything looks like "under there" and what others have done before attempting a job.

I was flustered for a while because all you guys with 5-speeds always used about 5 quarts of MT-90, yet the specs for the 2K2 specify roughly half that. I thought the specs were wrong at first, but others have confirmed that the 2K2 manual trans capacity is very much smaller than prior years. Definitely true - save your money. Don't do what I did and buy 5 quarts of the stuff *before* you're sure....

At 9 bucks a quart, that's an expensive mistake.

Kudos...

Awesome write-up. Too bad it is not as easy for us auto Maxes. I might be looking into an RSB though.
