anyone ever race an Acura 3.2 TL?

My friend just bought a 2000 3.2, and we want to race...but, should I wait until I get my POP charger (that I'm making) and my Y-Pipe?

thoughts?

If you are automatic you will be close. If you are 5 speed there is no need to wait for those mods you will walk him if you have any driving skill.

The TL-S would give him a run for his money, even with those mods. A regular TL while also quick can be beaten by a well driven 5-speed.

I agree. My 95 Max(with 130k miles!) with Y-pipe, intake and exhaust walked on my dad's 2000 TL when we raced. I've driven his car and i'm not really impressed, you can feel how heavy the car is when you drive it.

TL-S is another story, of course....

My brother has a 99 3.2 TL. It has 80K on it and it RUNS!!!! It has a lot more low end than the Maximas (stock) IMO. I drove it and it is smooth. But I don't think it's a match for mine now since I've done a few mods. If it is a straight road you're racing on, go for it. But if the road is somewhat windy, BEWARE!!!! Those things handle GREAT!!! His came stock with front and rear sway bars and FSTB. Good luck.

i have a 95 GLE and my wife has a 2001 3.2 TL. i haven't raced the two cars, but i am sure the 3.2 is faster than my max. i think the 3.2 tested at 6.7 sec 0-60, five speed max's best is 6.6 stock. it would be a close race. make a mistake and the Acura wins.

The TL-S was tested that fast, the regular TL is nowhere near that fast. Just looked it up, regular TL goes 0-60 in approximately 7.4-7.6 seconds depending on which magazine you look at. It would be close to even with a 4th gen auto and get beaten by a decently driven 5 speed.

HAHAHA

im talkin stock. and no i dont go on to diss maximas, i like em a lot. honestly i think 4th gen ones look better than the 5th gens. try pitting your maxima against one of those type 2 coupes however, its 235 HP stock (and i believe it was in the mid-90's...not quite sure i kno they dont make em anymore tho)

Stock it is very close, the Type-II is rated at 230hp, but is hundreds of pounds heavier than a 4th gen maxima. I have a friend who used to have a Type-II GS 6 speed but he had it before I had my maxima, so we never got to race. He has ridden in my car when it was stock and thinks thinks it would have been a pretty close race.
