Car stereo and noise insulation project has begun
Car stereo and noise insulation project has begun
I've started a new project for my car, this time making the stereo sound better. I was getting a horrible resonance in the front speakers around the 300-400 Hz region that I was unable to tune out using an AudioControl EQX unit. I banged on the door with my hand and it sounded like a tin can. So thanks to some of the .org members for suggestions I started today. I got some Peal and Seal roofing sealing stuff (basically tar paper with aluminum) and started treating the driver door. I'm going to put an old floor mat treated with scotch guard behind the speaker driver to act as a diffusor. I'm going to put a few layers of the Peal and Seal on the inside of the door as well and then seal all the holes in the door to isolate the front and back waves of the speaker and to cut resonance. I'm also going to put a sheet of foam carpet padding to further dampen the door. Hopefully my car will start sounding better and if it works well, I'm gonna start doing the rest of the car.

I agree.....I would've parted ways with it way before now.....sinking money into something you hate for little reward rarely gets you anywhere.
