i dunno...depending on which model altima it is it might give you a run for your money. the 02's have what 244 hp? more or less. i'd say it depends on what you've got in your car. i drove my uncles new altima the other day and i also have a 95 max, it seemed to drive pretty damn nice so i'm not really sure. i'm waiting for it to be on someones kill list one of these days. anyone else think differently?

A 5spd 4th Gen can hang with if not inch out an auto 2k2 Altima. The 5spd 2k2 Atlima will pull though.

Speaking from experience.

My buddy just got a 2002 Altime SE 5 speed. I raced with him a couple of time, and yes he does pull from me, but not by much. I got a 98 5 speed with CAI.

Our 4th gens will lose to Altimas unless heavily modded. They have a bigger engine. Any mods we can do...they can do better. Their suspension which was ripped off of the skylines will do donuts around our beam suspension. I heard that since the Altimas are made in the US, that the quality is not as good as ours as far as interior workmanship, but it's not that much of a difference. Even the 5th gen maximas probably have a hard time keeping up with them. I really don't see the logic as to why Nissan would put so much competing pressure on another one of it's own products by making the Altima *gasp* better than Maximas.

Yeah Nissan made two cars that are just too similar to each other. Everyone keeps saying that the Maxima is going to dissapear and give way to the Altima, lets hope that doesnt happen!!! Take Care

How would you know? I've raced a 3.5L Altima Auto from a 40 mph roll. I edged out on him by the top of the gear and pulled 1 car on him by 120 mph. My mods at the time was a JWT Intake and a G-Force ECU.

i do not think the 4th gen maxima will hang with a 2k2 altima since they are running low to mid 14s stock. 4th gen maximas stock run 15s if im correct and with heavy modding 14s and 13s. and no our 4th gens cant hang with a 2k2 maxima
