Whats a throttle chamber?
Whats a throttle chamber?
I just brought in my car to nissan dealership again for an idle problem i've had before. My car rpm moves while im idling. The first time i brought it in for this problem they just adjusted the idle setting but the problem came back. This time they said that somebody who previously owned my car tampered with my throttle chamber and I needed to replace it. What is a throttle chamber? Is it the same thing as your throttle body? Can anybody shed some light on this for me and where would I be able to buy this part on my own .. any part number? The dealership wants $783 to fix this problem and frankly I dont have that kinda cash laying around. By any chance do any of u guys know if this part is under the normal warranty or not? Any help would be appreciated.
There is no part called the "throttle chamber"
Get them to point to the exact part under the hood that will be replaced. Then come back tell us what they pointed to. DONT PAY THEM ANYTHING yet...

I called back and asked him about the throttle chamber. He said its called a throttle chamber and its the butterfly like thing. He gave me a part number, but I don't know wut to do with that. None of the part sites i went to even recognize this part number. Its 1611840U11.
Go to another dealer, the one you went to is staffed with idiots. The proper name for the part is "throttle body."
Also, the throttle body itself would be pretty hard to damage. Try cleaning it and testing the throttle position sensor.
Get a haynes manual and start doing your own maintenance work.

A little off topic, but, I've had a dealer tell me that my Y-Pipe was blocked up, causing too much heat to build up, causing my O2 sensors to keep setting off the MIL -- it was something like a $2000 repair (for a couple of bolts, and a factory Y-Pipe)...I thought this was THE MOST RIDICULOUS EXPLAINATION I HAVE EVER HEARD
and left...I posted some Q's on the ORG, and everyone said what they are saying now...the dealer is staffed by morons!!!
(It actually turned out to be a faulty injector causing my problems...a $400 repair)
The moral is -- Many dealers are chumps, and try to make us into chumps too...don't be a chump!
They couldn't even tell you the correct name of the part thats apparently malfunctioning!

He's right. These days, if you want some thing done right, you got to do it yourself, and I KNOW that Manual can allow you to do just that. Guess there making cars too well these days, cause there seems be a lot more mechanics making sht up. Now if I can only get that manual. I've been trying to get my hands on a 4th Generation Haynes Manual for EVER....do they make these dam things anymore?
