Hey guys,

I found a '97 SE 5-speed on Autotrader that I really want to buy. It's my car's twin, except w/ a 5-speed tranny. '97 SE -- Deep Evergreen w/ Tan Leather Interior, ABS, Bose, Heated Seats, Sunroof, etc. It has 75K miles. He also had advertised that it has tinted windows and an "Upgraded Stereo". They're asking $14,500, but there's no way I'm paying that.

The prices I got from Kbb.com are as follows:
Trade-in: $8,440
Private Party: $10,825
Retail: $13,035

So, depending if his stereo is any good, I'd probably pay up to $11K. I want to see it first, but it looks like a really nice car. The mileage is a little high, but I'm willing to deal.

I figure I could get $13K for my car, so I'll have about $2K to play with for mods.

You have a nice car already. Do you think it's worth trading it just so you can get a manual tranny?

Well, I guess it isn't worth it to sell it for the one with manual. I'm gonna have to eat the loss for taxes and stuff. I really don't want to explain to the insurance company why I sold a '97 SE and bought another '97 SE, either. You're right Andy...I'm just gonna hang onto this car until I pay it off. Then we'll see what happens. I really had a craving for a 5-speed so I went searching, but I'm gonna keep the Automagic I guess.

hehe, I decided against that also. I went to look at the 5 speed max and it was so nice but, its just not worth it.

 

don't let these bozo's stop u from getting what u want...i have a 95 auto and i'm GOING to get me a 95 stick even if it kills me! I've been searching but the problem is finding someone to buy my car....stick is just hot...if i get stick, i won't care about mods till like christmas cause i'll be so occupied chilling wit the stick...full control of your car, and it's one thing u can do and never be the best at, there's always room for improvement....wait till i find someone to buy my baby, i'll marry my new maxy.....
