Rims rims and more rims!
hi
I am going to get new rims ... the ONLY reason I am doing this is so I can put on the Wilwood big brake kit. I believe the smallest size that will fit is 17". I may consider 18" wheels. What would be a decent brand to buy? There are like thousands of brands and styles out there ... difficult question I know, but if someone could tell me where I can start looking, that would be great! I have browsed through tirerack's stuff already.
I will probably take a look at other people's wheels to see what everyone has.
Thanks!

Dude .. that's not an easy question ...
1. I would recommend 18's if you want a big brake upgrade kit (I have 18 x 8.5's with my AP kit)
2. You need to figure out first how much you want to spend ... from there you can determine what brand and how light they're going to be.
My Volks while they are 18 x 8.5 only weigh 16 lbs each. But .. I think retail for them is about $500-600/ rim (not sure since I bought mine used).
Once you figure that out ... you go for the best you can afford based on whatever is more important to you ... it could be weight .. it could be looks .. it could be brand
I'd say look @ Racing Hart, Konig or Volks if you want to spend that much .. but I think Racing Hart & Konigs are decent rims with good styling @ a reasonable price.
Check out www.groupbuycenter.com & see what some group pricing is.
BTW .. our bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3 ... you also need to consider offset .. but I not sure about this # ... hopefully s/o else will confirm or correct me if I'm wrong but we need an offset of 35-40?
Another thing is the rubber ... for the price .. I don't think anything can beat the Kumho Ecsta's
This is probably more confusing than helpful .. but it may give you some things 2 chew about & a good site 2 check for pricing ...
Good luck!

asking what rims is hard man... i think a maxima looks best with a nice 3 piece wheel with a lip and 5-9 spokes or a something like man that is just 5 spokes that are clean and not a lot of mess...
i know a distributor of konig (ie rota) in the north that can give really good prices so if you like their wheels you can check back.
try:
www.washingtontire.com

the Wilwood brake kit apparently fits underneath stock 16in SE Rims with spacers, if you are going to get new rims anyways i would consider 18's, its not like you don't have the power to back it up
That and when you go to the track you can just slap on your 16's with some slicks.

Thanks for the advice everyone! All advice helps!
Actually, I would like to use the Wilwoods with stock wheels. I like the stock wheels a lot! But not sure if I want to do the spacer thing. Too bad I can't do the brakes first and wheels later
Do you have any more info on the spacer? I will still check it out.
Thanks again!
Nigel
