I don't see Intrax on your list, I got them after H&R's and I think they give you the best drop.

Progress Springs, bought them shipped for $157 from http://www.pmpdesigns.com/Specials/specials.html, best bang for the buck!

I beleive these springs were used in the Stillen Maxima. Alot of people who works on cars love the springs when they felt it, I had it installed today and the ride was pretty good, I do have aftermarket and stiffer Tokico blue gas shocks for the fronts, and stock shocks for the rears.

Actually, the best springs for the money are Maxspeeds. At $90 for the set, you can't go wrong. Before choosing a spring, you'll have to decide what you'll like. Each spring has its own unique qualities that you may or may not like. Some may be too harsh, or bouncy, or even too soft. Some may not give you the drop you desire. You'll have to decide which ones you'll be comfortable with.

Some to choose from:

Sprint- 2.00" drop
Eibach- 1.50" drop
H&R- 1.30" drop
Intrax- 1.75" drop
Progress Technology- 1.40" drop
Suspension Techniques- 1.30" drop
Maxspeed- 1.40" drop
B&G- 1.60" drop
Apex- 1.60" drop

Coilovers:

Cattman- 2"-6" drop (sagging springs, struts included)
Ground Control- 0"-3" drop
Weapon R- 0"-3" drop
OBX- 0"-3" drop
JIC Magic- 0"-4" drop (excellent quality, struts included)

Well, sort of...

On a strut suspension, when lowering, the roll center lowers faster than the center of gravity. This makes the car want to lean MORE when lower. So, springs must get really really stiff to make up for it.

You can get great handling if you dont lower very much at all and only stiffen the springs a little.

cut the factories for the lowest spring drop.

eibachs if you get a low set.

sprints if you cut a coil in the back.

thats why Eibachs are the best...for the most part they are stiffer than most of the springs mentions besides Ground COntrols and they have one of the lower drops available....the problem with most springs is that they are not stiff enough for the drop they provide....

I have running Ground Controls for about 6 months now. this is the 3th set up i have had on my max. They ride alittle stif but not bouncy. My car is about 2" drop all the way around, and handles almost perfect. All you can expect without true coil overs. The only problem with them is they tend to bottom out alittle more they should when you hit really large bumps and holes. But i think they would be perfect for anyone on a buget, that does not live in PA.

im thinking of going with illumina/h&r after researching but im not sure if the drop they provide is too low. i want to still get over speed bumps, and i was wondering if it was possible. if not what is a similar set-up that is not too low. thanks

H&R is like the lowest drop available.....i went over plenty of speed bumps with S-techs and Sprints H&R will be perfect for you

Wanted something affordable.I live in New England and the roads suck around here, I didn't want something that was out of a tuner magazine. What I was looking for was something that matched a European suspension setup. I went with the Progress Springs and have Tokico Blue shocks. Tight ride without sacraficing comfort.

I'm looking at coilover springs on ebay. I want a drop, but still a good ride because the roads here suck. Speed bump on nearly every side street and pothole galore.

This is the auction i'm looking at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99...ayphotohosting

Will they work?

You best bet is with other coilover sleeve. you'll get what you paid for. better go with a great name brand rather than wasting time and labor to set that up. then use with adjustable shock, it'll be great. just my 0.02.

I just ordered a set of Tokiko Illuminas.
I currently have the KYB AGX on my car with Eibachs.

I also have a spare set of H&R springs.

Sometime next weekend, I will probably put on the Illuminas with the H&Rs, unless somebody could convince me that the Eibachs would be a better ride.

I am getting to the point where I would give up some handling for better ride comfort.

I thought about buying the Illuminas with the Tokiko springs, but since I already have a set of H&Rs, I didn't see the point of buying yet another set of springs.

I hope the H&Rs give me a more even drop. Either by dropping the front a little or raising the rear a little -- or both.

People who cut their springs are ****ing retarded, wears the stock struts so much faster and then the cut springs wear faster as well + handling sucks on cut springs

no aftermarket springs are super soft, they will all ride harsher than stock. the struts you get also make a huge difference.

i've had sprints with agx's and currently have maxspeeds and illuminas. the second setup is a bit smoother and is about .5" taller. the sprints are harsh but still very tolerable. smoother than a 350z with the track package...

do not expect a stock or close to stock ride, you won't get it. h&r and eibach are considered the premier spring and come highly recommended.

my advice:
whatever you decide don't decide based solely on price. spending an extra $100-200 may get you a much better ride and prevent problems down the road. do not cheap out on struts. agx's or illuminas are great. consider buying used also, but buyer beware; buy from reputible sellers and inspect the goods throughly. check the forsale forums and eBay.

strongly consider camber plates if you are going beyond a 1.5" drop or at least camber bolts -- they are only $25 and allow your camber to be properly adjusted.

while you are replacing your suspension, i'd recommend replacing the strut mounts and strut bearings as well. they are relatively cheap parts and will prevent you from squeaking every damn bump. coilwrap is a good idea too.

if you cheap out now and get used gr2's and pair them with a low spring, don't use camber correction, keep stock mounts and brearings... etc. you will end up with blown struts, possibly damaged CV's, terrible tire wear, a squeaky ride and all sorts of stuff you don't want.

before making a decision also consider the roads you drive on daily. if you live somewhere that gets a bit of snow you will be plowing the roads with low springs. think about just how low would be ok for you. if you drive on crappy roads or get a lot of snow or have a soft, sensitive bee-hind, consider a more moderate drop or coilovers.
