Rumor, true or not??

I don't know if it's true or not........

I had someone tell me that Nissan might be bought out by Ford.
Does anyone know of this?

I doubt it. Ford already owns a share of Mazda. Why buy into another Japanese automaker? Plus Renault already bought the controlling interest in Nissan. For Renault to sell to Ford and this time(when the Maxima/Altima/I35 are doing well, would NOT be cheap. Where did you hear this anyway? If you "hear" something, you should note the source.

Like I said, it's a rumor I heard. Also, the Quest is based on the Mercury Villager or vice versa. Ford also owns Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, why not keep expanding??

Anyways, my bat if I got it wrong about Ford.

I work at a Nissan dealership and have NOT heard any thing about this. Nissan is doing exceptional now and has lots of new stuff coming out. These next few years will be very exciting times at Nissan.

Ford and Nissan jointly developed the Quest/Villager program but that is the only 'sharing' they ever did as far as I am aware of. However, the new minivan from Nissan that will replace the Quest will be all Nissan.

It is true though that Renault & Nissan have formed an alliance/venture to both companies' advantage. Nissan got financial assistance when they needed it most to turn the company around. Renault gains Nissan's market share and vice versa (since they're an alliance) and they can jointly develop vehicles and commonize parts and suppliers to the benefit of lesser # of overall parts.
