Any way to make the car beep when locking??????

I was in my school’s parking lot and when I came back some one stole my dash 5in TV and my CD book. I am sure I locked the car but I now I’m very afraid to leave it not looking that my lights blink when I lock it. Is there some kind of a way to rewire my horn to the alarm so that it will beep when the lights blink? Has anyone done this? I’m really annoyed to the fact that Nissan didn’t think about installing some kind of sound when you lock your car.

Never did trust factory alarms. In fact, I bought a Viper alarm to replace it a couple of days after buying my Max eight years ago!

Ouch! That sucks. My car alarm locks the car after 30 seconds if I forget to lock it. You should rewire yours to do the same. But I have the stock alarm hooked up right now... - but I am pretty sure it's possible to do the same with a good aftermarket alarm.

you would need a realy

yeah it sux that it doesnt make a beep noise or whatever but the new ones do 2000-onward so if you plan on getting a newer max it should..im gonna replace my factory alarm in both our cars as soon as we save sum money you all probably wont belive me but when i had my 91 integra gs i installed my own alarm...guess from where? RADIO SHACK it was the easiest and it had so many options that were easy to program...it was similar to the bulldog alarm back in the day...it had passive arming, automatic arming, chirp when armed, silent when armed and many more that i cant even begin to remember...but they stopped selling it back in 98 i think..that bites cause it never went off on false alarms..you could even hook up the glass breaking relay to it......basically it was the shiznit!!!and cheap!!

Why don't you just manually lock the drivers door whenever you get out of that car? It'll become second nature, and it'll lock all your doors. Then you can listen to all the doors lock themselves and be sure the car is locked when you leave it.

I saw this post and thought that a beeping car when locked would be a good idea, so this is what I did on a 1997

The relay for the lights is in trunk at the back of the car. There are two trim pieces to remove to get to it. The relay for the horn is under the hood, so instead of running wires from the front to the back of the car, I decided to use the wires to the relay in the trunk and add a relay and a small OEM type horn in the trunk.

For a 1997, the green/orange wire to the relay has 12 volts, and the orange wire to the relay gets grounded to energize the relay. I installed a relay with the wires to the coil spliced into the green/orange and orange wires. The I got the 12 volts for the horn from the trunk release. It is the purple/white wire (as opposed to the purple yellow wire). The common terminal on the relay goes to the purple/white wire, and the normally open terminal goes to the horn. The horn can be grounded anywhere. Mount the horn and relay somewhere in the trunk behind the trim panel.

Took about an hour to do.

How does it sound? Could you by chance get any pics? Do you think it would be any different for another year 4th gen?
Thanks,

your alarm i assume is stock so when robbers hear no beeping sound when you lock the car they know that they can break the window easily without the alarm turning on, i suggest you buy a real alarm system, not just the keyless entry alarm that you already have

Here's an update on this subject.

The horn was loud and obnoxious, so I went to Radio Shack and replaced it with 108 dB High Intensity 12VDC Piezo Buzzer (273-057).

Now it is just loud enough and not obnoxious.

Would it be a lot of trouble to use the stock horn for this purpose instead of a new horn? It seems to me the alarm is already linked to the horn so perhaps it wouldn't take a run all the way from the front to the back? Just wondering...

Also, does this extra horn in the trunk now sound when the alarm is going off or only durring arming?

I30, just buy an aftermarket alarm.

$500 now is alot better than alot more money later when someone jacks everything in your car.

The stock alarm is pretty much useless.

Anyone heard of the stock alarm on the new Mazda MP5!?

It randomly honks the horn, like someone who would pull up behind you and try to get your attention.

I was at a club outside when one went off. Everyone in line looked.
A guy walked up and turned it off, and I spoke to him. He said it just came stock like that.

That's inventive!

Help me out here guys!...

Firsly, how do you remove the upper (hard plastic) trim piece? The screws are of course not real and turning them does nothing.
Secondly, which wire should I splice into for the positive to the horn.
Lastly, is the horn grounded? If does not look so in the pic.
Thanks,
-Cyrus

To answer some of the questions:

The extra horn only beeps when the alarm system flashes the parking lights. I believe that when the alarm goes off, it does not turn on the parking lights, so the extra horn will not beep.

You can connect the wires from pins 18 and 21 on the body control module. This will turn on the turn signal lights, headlights, and horns when locking the car or when the alarm goes off. I thought this would be too much noise when the doors are locked. The body control module is in the center console under the radio.

Remove the screws from the upper trim very carefully. Do not push down very hard on the screw while you are unscrewing. If this does not work, try pull up on the trim peice while you are unscrewing.

The Purple/White wire has +12 volts. There is also a Purple/Yellow wire. If you have bad eyes like mine, it is sometime hard to tell the white from the yellow. Use a voltmetwer to check for 12 volts if you cannot tell the wires apart.

The horn is grounded from the body of the horn to where it is bolted in the trunk.

what about when you turn on your flashers? It is the same light that flashes when you lock your car.

The alarm system uses the relay to provide 12 volts to the parking light directly. it does not use the flasher for the hazzard lights or turn signal lights. The horn does not beep when the hazzard or turn signals are used.
