99 5 speed transmission for 500 dollars w/ 1yr warranty!!!!

ok, i go to these junkyards in my area and find a 99 5 speed transmission for 500 dollars with a one year warranty!!! The thing is that it wasn't in the car..he had it seperate, he didn't know what mileage it had off hand and he was a little reluctant to tell me saying that it didn't matter because it had a one year warranty. I have a 95 maxima and some people tell me that all 4th gen transmissions are the same. If this is the case, i am willing to get it but i'm concerned something is either wrong with it or the mileage is like crazy high...then again it is from a 99 maxima so it shouldn't be THAT much. Anyway, what do you guys think? He threw that price at me quick...i reawlly want to do it and it DOES have a warranty...couple of nice guys...didn't look like they would con me but dam...sounds too good to be true...what do you guys think? should i go for it?

thanks in advance

Are you doing a conversion? Junkyard prices vary but with a yr warranty that doesn't sound too bad. There are a few members who got lucky on Ebay and found some i30 trannies for under 200 bucks! If your doing a conversion it would be better if you could find the whole car so you could get all the parts needed.(peddle bracket, console, linkages ect)

yea, i feel you..get everything together...i'm going to see if he has the rest of the car so i can get other pieces...i talked to a friend on another forum and they said to check vin# and go on carfax to see mileage and any problems if any....other than that it seems like a good buy...i30's...they should be more expensive but seem to be cheaper...i'm wondering if there's a problem...i also have to go to dealership to make sure all 4th gen trans are the same...but i will definitely look for a whole car...seen a few maxima's in the junkyards i went to...but all auto's....and this other dude tried to rape me saying he'll give me all parts needed wit a tranny having 65,000 miles for like 1500 dollars....not trying to spend that much dough....but my mind is stuck on this tranny for 500.....

I guess its all a matter of luck. Every max I see in a junkyard is an auto also. Well good lick with your search, I think it'll be worth it though.

dont the I30 ones have LSD like the Canadian Max's?

if they threw a price at u quick try to bargain em down... it will be a pain in the butt if you cant get what you need cuz they dont have the car
$300 bucks! go for that

I think the I30t or touring models have LSD in them... also from someone on the org, the LSD I30t tranny needs a different driver side half shaft as well.
