Just beat my friends WRX with my stock y-pipe (long)
Just beat my friends WRX with my stock y-pipe (long)
A friend of mine has had his WRX for about 3 months now. He has always talked about wanting to race me, but we never really got the chance to. I usually work late and so does he. Anyway, I am stopped at one of the main intersections in town and I see him go by. I turn after him and it takes almost 3 miles just to get past all of the cars that were in between us. So, I catch up and end up following him to this deserted parking lot. We line up and go on the third beep.
His car took off really well even though I had a perfect launch.
That all-wheel drive really helps out a lot. So he pulls about a half a car lead wich I make back up in the top of first gear (when my tires finally hooked up).
I shifted into second and
we were still dead even all the way through second gear. I shifted into third after redlining second, and slowly started to walk him. We were running out of room and I was satisfied with our little race, so I hit the brakes. I was SO impressed with my Maxima tonight. I'm sure some of you guys can relate that sometimes your car just doesn't seem like it is as fast as it used to be. But, when you end up beating a fast car you realize it's all in your head and the power has been there all along. I think we just get to used it's performance (I do anyway). My car just rolled over 160,000 miles and it still runs this good! I wasn't sure if I should keep modding it or not with so many miles, but with it still performing like this, why the heck not!?
To top it all off, this was with my stock y-pipe, since my Cattman's getting a new flex put on. Man that was fun. Sorry so long.
Later,
Justin

Maybe he just didn't try as hard as you did. You did redline 2nd??!!! Right??
So...... maybe he "halfazzd" his throttle.

Btw, I just talked to the guy today and since I beat him he's going to order a blow off valve and a few other mods so he'll be able to take me. He was as surprised as I was that I won. I didn't think I would win since I have the stock y-pipe. My car doesn't have that pull in the top end like it did before. I just can't wait to get the y back. It was fun either way.
