Spring comparison & feedback...

Let's get a comparison going on all the different brand of springs and struts/shocks (suspension combos) out there for the Maxima..
Since everyone has different brands and different opinions, I'll ask that you post what type of springs & shocks you have and some feed back on them.. This way, if anyone has questions in the future, they can come here for answers.... What do yal say??

I'll start by saying:

I have Eibachs with stock 2k SE shocks.. It rides pretty stiff and it's not bouncy at all... One good way to start your suspension upgrade...

I've also felt Progress springs with Tokicos on a 5thgen and I gotta tell ya, I've never felt anything worse than this combo.. Stay away from Progress...

I have Sprint Springs paired with Koni Shocks. It's very harsh on city roads. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I lived in Florida or South Carolina. When I hit huge bumps at minimal speeds (30 mph or less) I often bottom out. You need to be very cautious when you drive with this setup.

I started with stock SE suspension. I went to H&R with Tokico blues. The H&R's were ok, but the Tokicos were way too soft in the back. I then went to Cattman coilovers using Koni struts. I had those on for about 2 years. I love the adjustment and these are great on winding back roads and for autocross, but I live in an urban area where the idea of road repair is non-existent. It's 4x4 territory. I just took the coilovers off this week (recently rebuilt with new struts and springs; for sale in the Classified forum) and put on Progress springs with AGX struts. This feels like a great setup; your problem was undoubtedly with the Tokicos, not the Progress springs, same as my experience with the H&R. With the AGX set at 3(front) and 6(rear) my handling is very close to coilover taut. The difference is 1)less drop, over 3/4" difference in front, and 2) lack of adjustability for the camber. I ran autocross very strongly with the coilovers. Without the camber adjustments, I doubt I'd do as well. For daily driving, though, I like the new setup a lot, since the progressive rate springs take up the ruts and bumps in the local roads better than linear coilover springs.

I've got HR's with stock shocks......

Pretty bouncy on the bumps and a bit harsh over potholes....
but the handling is quite impressive through high speed turns

I'm pretty happy with them.

Will be happier when I get my KYB's......anyone want to show me how to mod the strut tower mounts so that they'll fit?

Hogan perhaps?

My first springs were Eibachs, they ride fine like stock. I was charged $500 plus dollars to drop my car. I was disgusted with the 4x4 look. I then swapped to intrax. They ride good except if you hit a pothole or a bump youll feel it then, and if you drive fast everywhere you go and dont see the road of course you wont enjoy the ride especially here in New Orleans. I was still not happy with the intrax drop so I cut a coil off my the front of my intrax. I also have Koni adjustables and when set to ride soft it feels good, none of that bottoming out ****.

For the AGX's, you don't need to modify the tower mount. its just plug and play.

C backet? O shape? what are those? for a straight change out with the HR and AGX's, the OEM mounts will work fine. It may be different for mounts of coilovers, but not for regular H&R springs.
