Nissan brake pads....key value vs. OEM

I will be replacing my rear brake Bendix pads since
they squeel. They are not squeeling because Bendix
does not sell a "quiet" version for the rear.
I want to switch back to Nissan brand, but there
are two versions of that...key value and OEM.
They dealer wants $79 for the key value and $129
for OEM installed. Anyone knows what are the
difference?

Why dont you check and see if Performance Friction makes a pad for your rears? Try www.autozone.com , I purchases front pads for 33 bucks there.

I can get you OEM pads for $50 shipped. Key Value for $40 shipped. Im my opinion oem ones are better caue I never had squealing with oem pads. email me at stanley@tssperformance.com

I've had Key Value...they suck. They squeeled for the entire time they were on my car.

I have Performance Friction Carbon Metallic on the front now and OEM on the rear. It's a great combo.

I do know that Performance Friction does not make rear pads for our cars...

Key Value is ****. Jeff92se had to replace his Key Value clutch really quick. He then got an OEM.

I first put in Axxis and they had problems with noise so I switched to OEM. The OEM's are wonderful. No noise whatsoever

for the front pads, i use bendix iq. they
are great! i have no noise and better performance
than the OEM. the OEM would fade during stop
and go traffic. however, unlike the OEM, bendix
gives off a lot of dust.

for the rear, i'm getting massive squealing after
replacing a worn pair of OEM with bendix. so now
i'm going back to OEM. but for some strange reason
the dealer wants more $$$ to replace the rear than the front.

Albert,

Make sure the exacerbated squealing isn't a result of a rear caliper "sticking" and forcing more pressure on pads that are thicker and thus *could* be the source of the noise.....

4th gen rear calipers seem to want to stick a lot.....

I can only speak from my own experience and say that OEM's are very quiet. I forgot to reinstall 1/2 shims and still zero squeal from the fronts. I don't see any advantage with Key Value because you'd save maybe $11. Pads are about $45 over the web.

I'd try new shims in the back if those pads are fairly new because true, new OEM pads may not rid the squeal. But if there was no squeal before the new pads went in they may do the trick.

I had Performance Frictions on my last car (Contour) and they were pretty good, very little dusting..

Anybody try Hawks yet? I'm going to be doing brakes in a few weeks after the next couple autocross events...

They sell them at Tirerack..
