He can probably launch harder than you. And the car is quite a bit lighter than you as well.

Just race and see what happens....but I wouldnt be talking any sh*t before hand if I were you...

i think the boxster would still win... but not by much. mostly because of the weight advantage.. 2750 lbs vs 3000 lbs

Boxster will win w/ equal drivers.

Lighter.
Rear-wheel drive.
Mid-engine.

These three variables buy him a much stronger launch.

Have fun, just the same!

Being a Maxima owner and a Porsche owner I will give you my unbiased opinion. The base model Boxster is a low 15, high 14 second car, coincidentally so is the Maxima, which would make for a good race (but my money is on the Maxima). Once you get your y-pipe and intake you should trounce him. The base model Boxster should be eliminated from the Porsche line-up, or at least be reserved for old men and sixteen year old girls with rich Daddies.

My friend who had a stock 5 speed 4th gen Max at the time beat a 5 speed Boxter. They raced on the Verizzano bridge.

Just to let you guys know..........

I once annoyed the hell out of a neighbor on a drive home one night. I live in the suburbs (Suffolk County, NY) and the roads are pretty open with traffic lights that a far and few.

Anyway we started up a hill, we both didn't romp on the go pedal from the light but we were accelerating at a nice pace. We both got caught at the same lights twice and thats when I decided to test the Porsche. I tore off at the first light and he followed in pursuit. One more light caught us so I decided to bother this guy. I start revving my motor and looking at him. Light goes green and we take off hard, neck and neck. I actually began to edge him out in 3rd gear (god I love 3rd gear!!!) The last launch from the light was the real deal, I know because when I was revving and looking at him he returned a not so nice gesture

I love underpowered sports cars, I love to pick on them.

i would love to beat him
he does have huge 18's so that will help his launch but prolly hurt his acceleration a bit
it would be awesome to beat his $50,000 porche with my 4 door $15,000 family car

Wasn't my point.

My point is the guy with the $50k car has no problem in buying a $15k car...he just chooses not to.

Anyways, I'll step of the soapbox...I have a bad habit of creating flames around such issues.

Right. So, your point was the wealthy can afford to make frivolous, non-sensical purchasing decisions when it comes to choice in automobiles? To reiterate, I think that was the point.

No offense to professor Ferdinand, and the German marque's fine heritage, but the N/A Boxter's definitely fodder for many "should-be-lesser" cars on the road. The fact that it's clearly in the sportscar category gives it little excuse.
