I'm currently working on my front brakes. Am i right in assuming i have to remove the hub nut to take the rotors off right? Also, can anyone tell me the torque specs for the hub, brake pad bracket, and caliper bolts? thanks in advance.

 

You do not have to remove the hub to replace the rotor (thank god)because it slides over the studs and is held in place by the lugs when you install the wheel.

Hub nut --------------------------174 - 231 ft-lbs
Caliper bracket bolts -------------53 - 71 ft-lbs
Caliper bolts----------------------16 - 23 ft-lbs

 

Okay, i removed the wheel, took off the caliper, took off the brake pad bracket. And from what you said, i should be able to take it off right? I must be missing a step or two somewhere since the rotor doesn't want to come off. Any advice? Also, thanks for the specs.

The backside of the rotor hat is rusted to the hub. There are threaded holes on the rotor hat. You need to thread a screw (don't know thread/pitch on top of my head) into the hole(s) which will push out the rotor.

The other alternative is to use a rubber hammer, wrap the head in a thick cloth/towel, and gently tap the back rotor face every 1/4 turn.
